Yep. When I was shooting a bunch of trap, I had borrowed a guy's O/U and had a couple of duds with factory (though cheap) 12 ga. loads. Turns out the gun DID have a light strike on the primer. They went BOOM just fine in my cheapo 870 Express.
Oh great, something new for me to obsess over! Thanks!
Just kidding, but it does sound like a ton of fun. I'll be interested in how well the Bergara works for you.
When I first got into progressive loading, I wasn't paying enough attention and ran out of primers. That one was pretty clear pretty fast when my RCBS Ammomaster started getting really, really dirty. Just to prove I'm a slow learner, I ran out of powder in some 9mm that popped, pushed the cast...
From what I've read, I don't think I'd hesitate to use the 140 B-Tip on any elk I'm likely draw tags for. But if I could find Accubonds I would certainly use them. More is better, right?
Nice pics, sir!
I always thought the the Colt Bisley looked a little awkward. That's kinda funny, because I love the Ruger version. (It might help that you can get the Ruger in some romping' stomping chamberings.)
I'm not sure I could convince myself to buy a 5" 9x19 1911. Maybe Commander or Officer's ACP size gun. Maybe even a longside.
But I want a 5" .38 Super bad. Not terribly consistent there, Ace.
CL has obviously put a lot more thought and effort into this idea. I've never shot a scoped shotgun, and as I don't hunt areas where they're required for deer, I might not ever shoot one. The only reason I might look into one is if I start turkey hunting, which I don't have any plans to do. My...
Possible #3.1: Bend is becoming increasingly Californicated. It's still a Bravo Sierra excuse, but I could see all the granolas taking over Bend not wanting to make those nasty old bullets.
Of course, I would think you would want to make the process as automated as possible anyway, but I don't...
I also have a 6mm... mine's a 788. I used that on my very first BG hunt... Antelope in Southern Oregon. I kinda want to have an M70 Featherweight rebarreled in 6mm... but that's only likely if Uncle Powerball comes through for me.
Not that exact rifle, but my buddy has the old school wood and blued version. I've loaded a boatload of ammo for it. It shoots better than I do with 40 or 55 grain BTs. I will say it deserves a better scope than a plain Viper... PST is about the minimum I'd choose in the Vortex line. My buddy's...
Gorgeous!
I could see one of those as a second .45-70.... my first one will probably be a stainless Marlin... something I can beat the tarnation out of without feeling guilty.
Thanks, Doc. I forgot my password, but Fotis fixed me up via FB, but like a dummy I didn't write it down, and was forced to try to access via an ancient Windows 7 laptop. All fixed up on the new Mac now.
