I fully understand this post. I shoot canon and have 4 lenses 3 of which are L lenses. My long lens is the 300 f4 and I have a canon 1.4 tc. I can’t look at lenses without drooling over the 600 f4 but at 12 grand new that is almost as much as I paid for my 2011 Mustang convertible a few years...
When it came to the big box stores I always went to Cabela’s first then Sportsman’s Warehouse. In my area all three were fairly close together. They closed the Cabela’s and I expect they will do the same to Sportsman’s Warehouse too, leaving little choice around here.

I’m sure that they are the factory seconds but I will ask have you weighed them? The tip kind of looks like the accubond but they would be 110 grains. I have bought both from the pro shop.
I did that a couple of weeks ago. I was trying to load for three different firearms for a range trip the next day. Luckily I wasn’t loading very many for each but on one load after putting powder in about 5-6 cases I picked up a case to check something and found the primers missing.

This Sunday was a work day. Twelve hour shift, which means 13 or more for me so no reloading until today. Loaded up five sets of 5 rounds each powder charge of 7tcu with 120 grain vmax.

Personally I'd leave that magazine alone. Not because I'd be totally opposed to altering it but I would continue working on seating them deeper. i would probably try some at .150", .175", .200" and .225 if needed. I don't remember ever seating any bullet that deep but I have never had to because...
