    243 80 grain BT 2300/2400FPS

Is this thr 80 gr BT varmint? Would you use it at reduced velocity (2400 FPS from the barrel) for youth loads on deer sized animals? Or upgrade to a 85 gr PT?

    22 LR scope recommendation

Was looking at the bushnell scopes. The range has a silhouette area specific for 22 LR. Would be a fun way to spend the evening.

What to do with a Remington 742?

Sorry about the passing. 2 things Remington recommends about these rifles 1. Buy a brass chamber brush for the rifle. They look like bent test tube brushes. Give the chamber a good brushing before and after firing. Any gunk in the chamber will affect case extraction and the rifle will...

    The New sako

Fotis. Find me a Sako 338 with a mannlicher stock. There are a couple on Gunbroker. The sellers want more than I value them. A hunting rifle is fine (not a collectors rifle but a shooter) Thought one of these with a shorter barrel and 250 RN bullets would be a great brush rifle and look...

    Knives????????????

Havalon with either a ESEE #4 or a Barkriver Kalahari hunter The ESEE are great for the hard work. Even making kindling. Break it and free replacement. The. Ark River is much prettier but have a harder time batoning with it.

Real expectations with top line binoculars

I bought a pair of Zeiss HD last year. Like the glass. My one complaint it the focus kept changing when I would hike with them on a chest rig. They would always drift to the the closest focus point. Shipped them back to Zeiss a month ago. Called last week and all the HD repairs happen in...

Would it be great to work at Nosler?

Baltz. Cougar camp dates set for this year. Lots of snow should move the deer. Eric

Would it be great to work at Nosler?

I have always thought that on the stormy nights, driving a snow cat must be a little nervous if you get dis-orientated. Some of the areas are mighty steep.

Would it be great to work at Nosler?

For those of you who have never been to Bend, Oregon. This picture was taken today at Mt Bacholer, which is about 20 minutes from Bend. Great blue bird day of skiing.

    Let's talk about the Whelen....

JES bored out a Tikka T-3 for me. With a B&C stock it is a great package. Light and shoots like a Tikka. It really likes 225 gr accubonds.

    MSM and 30-06

Joel. Nice '06 loads. I am going to break in a new Sako this coming week. Hope she shoots like that. Loaded everything from 150 e-tips to 180 AB. For my other '06 with 180 gr bullets RL-22 has a proven record. I loaded the 180 AB with Hunter. Cheers

    150 grain E-Tip in .30-06

Thoughts about the 168 gr vs 150 e-tip compared to a 180 AB for a 22 inch barrel 30-06 for elk? I know the 180 AB is great elk medicine, but if trying the E-tip would you try 150 for the velocity or the 168 for the large BC ? Thanks Eric

    740 at the Range!

I have had a couple 7400s mostly in 35 Whelen When I got the first one, I call Remington because of all the internet chatter about the rifles being jamming machines. The Remington gunsmith recommended two things: Heavy for caliber bullets to fully cycle the action a d most importantly, was a...

160 gr AB verses a black bear

I still like the 200 gr E-tip from my 338 Fed. Problem is that I have never caught one from a bear but the bears have certainly fallen right over.
