    Drilling

Thanks to the advise and guidance from Salmonchaser and Europe, I have purchase my first "Drilling" It is a double 12 gauge on top with a single shot 9.3 x 74 R underneath. Was tired of carrying both the rifle and shotgun during goose hunts. We are able to hunt up to 50 geese a day, plus...

    muskox and Adak island

Thanks Earle, we have hunted them several times, but was curious if you had, thank you. Here they are hard to gt to but but easy to knock down. In Greenland they are much easier to get to. Yes, that is beautiful country, still no roads--love it ! Appreciate your response Mike, Thank you for...

    The Great Bears - interesting

EXACTLY!!! There have been times the 348 with a 250 wood leigh in a lever action ( more than one shot ) does not seem like enough gun. Salmonchaser, Earle, Dr Mike and any others who hunt and/or live with them, all know--you better respect them !!! And for the record, more people have been...

    The Great Bears - interesting

Back home now with a bit more time Guy. We try to take one each year, sometimes two, as they provide a lot of product. Like Salmonchaser we have an ongoing relationship with them. One must always be prepared for the worse although it seldom is. The Polar can actually be a bit more...

    The Great Bears - interesting

someone ask me to respond, but I agree with April, salmon chaser and 35whelen are the men who have been there done that. Salmonchaser, every year and 35whelen has got to have a good story or two from his guiding days in Alaska. But was asked what I use 348--250 gr before that 30-06--180 gr...

    Hunting bullet for 6.5 Creedmoor

Earle, headed out to work, so wont be able to respond back, but wanted to get back and let you know we are all glad you had that 375 and it kept you safe, otherwise we would not be able to enjoy your excellent advise now! I am surprised you didn't have a 348. It is my understanding they were...

    Hunting bullet for 6.5 Creedmoor

Earle, it is marginally a tad more then the 7mm Rem, but very close. Woodleigh provides 160 and 175 bullets for it. It would make a dandy wolf and caribou rifle but I dont carry it . If it is a dedicated goat or sheep hunt in the south then I take it and it works very well. 300 P.B. I never...

    Hunting bullet for 6.5 Creedmoor

I think they are ignoring you April . Not to worry, they dont recognize my 275 H & H either )-; You are too late for Earle's pup, I already have a plan to steal, I mean for the pup to be an accidental stowaway soon Actually April, I had a conversation with some folks back east and from what...

    Wolf hunting

Thank you Gil for sharing that story, enjoyed it. We were asked to try to dart some so as to collar them. Try daring a wolverine from a helicopter, that is an effort in futility . They are so cute a guest once said--right up until they destroy a cabin or evade a trap line slimfinn...

    Wolf hunting

Dr Mike They can be fun to watch, they also can be destructive as all get out and they love to follow a trap line and eat whatever is in them, very irritating (-; the bear_78. we do that both for ourself and for the Govt ( in regards to hunting Wolves via aircraft ) your right, It works...

    Wolf hunting

Canada has an off and on love affair with the wolf. They ( our liberal govt., Hollywood types, anti's ( gun, hunting), climate control, liberals in the large cities ) believe the Wolf is responsible for the decline in the Caribou herds, I believe the problem is more because of the continued...

    Protecting the Bird Dog?

Training ! The Boykin is well trained. Retriever water and upland, Blood trail , early warning, and distracting. We dont want him on a leash, as we want him to distract the white bear while we dart or shoot them. Sled dogs are trained to pull a sled of course but also to distract, charge...

    .358 Win Users

358's Of the three made the Savage is a good one, as is the BLR, the Winchester is not. Since you have a Savage, look for a 250/3000 to go with it and those two rifles will let you hunt anything in N.A. out to 250 yards. The 200 gr will work well out of it. I dont use Hornady, but others do...
