    Case neck soot or carbon

Hey, anneal the necks and see if you notice a difference. If you aren't experienced with annealing, I'd caution to go easy at first. 2 or 3 seconds with a propane torch. Let us know your results!

    Case neck soot or carbon

I almost always go up until I start seeing pressure and then I work back down from there. By pressure, I mean ejector Mark's on the case head usually. Sometimes you can tell by the firing pin crater on the primer or by how flattened the edges of the primer are but I almost always go up until I...

I have to admit.....some of you boys are serious about annealing!

    Annealing brass

Most seem OK, only a few seem a little on the toasty side but I haven't seated any bullets yet. I did run them through a Lee collet neck sizing die with no problems. I will probably try a 3 or 4 count next time vs the 6 count. Probably in my garage at night with the lights off also...

    Annealing brass

I've been reloading for quite a few years and I never bothered with annealing. I never saw the need, but I decided to try it out. I tried some 5.56 LC brass and I just used a propane torch with a deep well socket on a 1/4" extension chucked in a 1/2" drill. I did 6 seconds with the flame on the...

Quickload request 25-284, Staball 6.5, Nosler 115 BT

I see. So did 8133 get you anywhere close in velocity before you ran out of room in the case? Maybe just a touch faster then like IMR7977 or H1000. 7828ssc has to be close as well I'd think...

Quickload request 25-284, Staball 6.5, Nosler 115 BT

Isn't staball 6.5's burn rate close to H4350? IMR8133 is like Retumbo so you're results aren't suprising. That's a huge jump. You might try looking at H4831sc, IMR4955 or IMR7828ssc...

Confused or just up to late - Neck Tension

I own very few full length sizing dies. There are situations where I'd prefer them but for the most part I use Lee collet neck dies in conjunction with Redding body dies although the body die is rarely used. Works for me and I haven't had any problems hunting with neck sized only brass. I have...

    New project .223

Did some shooting. My chronograph would not read and it was driving me nuts trying to figure it out. Then I blasted the screen with some buffer that was in the shotgun shells and cracked the display....good grief! It finally started reading after the sun rose over the hill. I've never had any...

    Remington reloading components

Tipped core-lokt bullets as components would be pretty cool if they were decently priced!

Yeah, the issue is that the handle bottoms out before the plunger goes up high enough. I got it to work by leaving the plunger that you swap out between large and small primers unscrewed a few turns.

It's the RCBS universal hand priming tool. Just need to load up some 75gr ladders and I'll be ready to hit the hills! I even have several types of hand loaded 12ga #4 buckshot shells to test and pattern.

    New project .223

The Lyman digital pocket scale came today and I was able to run it side by side with the Brifit scale. Let them both warm up, calibrated them both with the weights they came with and the Brifit is the hands down winner. The Lyman was OK, but sometimes it would just start drifting until it was...

    New project .223

Loaded some 50gr Speer TNT at 2.312" OAL using LC brass, CCI 450 primers and 25gr-27gr of Exterminator. Also, 28gr-30gr of Leverrevolution. I've never seen that done with 50gr bullets but I've read that it's pretty good with 68gr+ bullets...

    New project .223

The Brifit scale came in yesterday and I got to try it out today after work. It seems good for $20? Reads to the hundredth of a grain but it's a bit temperamental at that resolution. Definitely able to split tenths of a grain so it seems good enough for me. Here's two pictures weighing the same...

    Vaccine mandate and Nosler

I have no idea if it's true, but I saw on YouTube that Hornady is allegedly on a "manhunt" for the leaker of their mandate letter. If that's true, then they obviously aren't sorry about the "Confusion" of the original notice. It's actually some real chicken $%&* behavior. I want some...

    Primers...

Oil companies do not set the price of gas at the pump. The price of oil affects the cost of gas at the pump and the price of oil is driven by supply and demand. Oil companies attempt to control supply to keep the price of oil favorable to them. That strategy has a lot more affect on US gas...

    New rifle

What other powders did you try with the 90gr bullets? That 7828ssc load is real nice! With the 20" barrel, you may be able to get more velocity with a faster powder? You may not care and it probably doesn't matter much. H4350 if you have some was pretty good for me. Superformance was not as...

I just got a Lyman pocket scale or whatever. Have you seen this? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X1b4wVB062c&t=62s I'll probably order this one too because it's cheap and the reviews are good. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07ZKG6T ... TTPB&psc=1

    New project .223

OK, took a closer look. It's not the brass, it was the priming tool. The plunger was not going up high enough to fully seat the primer. Kind of a pain, but I took the tool apart and was able to unscrew the plunger enough for it to go high enough. I'm starting to dislike this priming tool a bit...
