Can someone run QL for this combo please? Just looking to see what powders work to see if I have anything in my stash.
OAL will be 2.86, 24" Barrel.
Thank you
I did some research on this topic a year or two ago, because we had some bobcats in the area. I ended up going with a 50gr TNT Hornet Bullet (not the 55 which has a heavier jacket) and a reduced load of H4895. I have not connected on a cat yet, but it is a very quiet load, so I am guessing the...
Those are rookie numbers...we have to pump those up!
I always try to keep rounds on hand after the last time this happened. It is shocking how quickly ammo prices go through the roof and availability goes to unobtainium.
when you shorten a barrel, you make it stiffer, so in theory, it should be more accurate. If you get a good square crown, I can't imagine it grouping worse.
Luckily I am only 20 minutes from Idaho...which is where I will be heading sooner than later. Washington has really gone down hill as Guy mentioned. Unfortunately, it would appear that Liberalism is a disease, and it is spreading all over the country. I can't believe that so many people in...
I'm getting 2750 in my AI with Speer 250s. I'm going to back it down a hair, just because I don't need Thor's hammer.
I'd go 1:12, since there is no down side to it. My AI is 1:14 because I wanted to shoot cast in it as well.
We used them a lot in our 270s and never had a complaint. The only bullet failure I ever had was in a whitetail. Core separated on a frontal shot at 20 yards. Deer was dead before he hit the ground though, so it still did it's job.
I love to hunt, but after 2 heart attacks before my 51st birthday, I am not healthy enough to do the things my brain wants to. I couldn't physically haul out a buck from much distance, so I am content to watch my girls do most of the hunting. Lots of wolves up here in NE Washington now as...
For a lever gun, I would be inclined to just use a good old lead bullet. Nothing wrong with jacketed, but at lever gun velocities a good lead bullet will do the job. You can also get the 35 Remington if you find a nice Marlin on Gunbroker.
Unless it is a match chamber, barrel and blue printed action, I don't think it would be of any benefit. I didn't see any improvement with my heavy barreled Savage in 223. The big benefit comes with neck turning and Bushing Neck Dies. You don't need to squeeze the neck down and then open it...
