I'm just happy as all get out that my 30-06 Remington 700 shoots an inch at 100 yards. That's just peachy. Using standard RCBS dies, with a variety of bullets and powders an inch is all I need. With that level of accuracy I've taken game from very close range out to a tad over 400 yards with...

BTW - we're coming up on my favorite time of year here at home and on the forum... The fall hunting seasons! :)
Looking forward to the stories and photos.

Am pretty sure that forum member "6mm Remington" has used that bullet quite a bit from his 6mm Rem, which should be a 1:9 twist. He reported excellent results on game with it some time ago. Might reach out to him with a PM?

One of the things I love about loading revolver ammo is how economical it is.
A few grains of powder. Can use inexpensive bullets. Cases for 38, 357, 44 and 45 seem to last about forever if pressures are kept reasonable.
Fun to shoot.
I can dump all the empties into a coffee can next to...
Realized that I've been part of this forum for 18 years... 18 years of excellent conversation with fellow handloaders, shooters and hunters.
Thank you all for the great questions, comments, posts and more!
No, I'm not saying goodbye or anything - just grateful for what we have here, so a big...
I was going to, but never got around to doing so. The 140's have shot well from my 7mm Rem Mag rifles over the years.
Also - saw a guy clobber a grizzly in the Brooks Range with a single 140 gr TTSX from his 7mm Rem Mag. One shot, a short death run, and done. The all copper bullets like the...
This morning the osprey activity was in high gear. Individual birds and pairs of birds were in the air, fishing, flying, diving, perching briefly... I stayed busy! Watched one osprey stay above an eagle and drive the eagle away, all the way to the other side of the Columbia. It's at least 600...
No need to tell this group that it's important to be able to fight back:

I do believe in bear spray. It works. So does a firearm. Typically my sidearm when out in the hills...
Dog and I walked this morning, we often go to a floating pier on the Columbia River. Today a juvenile osprey that's only been flying for a couple of weeks, was hanging out on the handrail, checking the river below for fish! It was only about 30 yards from the nest and this osprey has little fear...
I was given 100+ 25-06 handloads several years ago. A friend's father had loaded them, but there was no info with them.
Eyeballed them for a bit and decided to disassemble them... Mix of 85 and 87 grain bullets along with a few 100 grain bullets. No idea what the powder was. I ended up keeping...
Yes. It falls into the category of "retention holsters" which are commonly used by police to make it more difficult for the officer's sidearm to be taken. They are required equipment for most uniformed police officers. There are quite a few different manufacturers and designs of retention...
Whenever we travel the Oregon coast, I try to make time to visit the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. August and September are great for watching the pre-rut and rut activity. I've always seen at least a few elk there, sometimes the place is downright crowded with Roosevelt elk:
Just doing my...
I still have one Blackhawk holster for my 1911, but it doesn't have that "Serpa" finger release. Just holds the gun tightly by pressure like any good holster does. It's okay. A bit noisy to draw from, but a decent "plastic" type holster.
I like the leather stuff better. :)
