The only thing my son has wanted for Christmas is a Remington 870 20 gauge shotgun. I new Big green was going through bankruptcy so back in June I got the last Remington 870 youth model I could find and hid it for 6 months. He had shot his older cousins so He kind of knew what he wanted. I did...
I currently have one Ruger American at the house (wife's 243) and had another one that I sold in 308. Both were bought at a pawn shop and I paid I total a 325 for both rifles combined. Both rifles shot really well. the 243 can put 3 shots in a ragged hole. So I know the RAR's are shooters...
I am not much help. I recently picked up some RL23 and also shoot a 30-06 so I did some looking to see if I could find some data for it. Alliant's data does not use R23 for any 30-06 loads at all.
Here is the target. 4 shot measured 0.929 and 3 shot measure 0.652. Pretty pleased with RL 23 so far. I knew I pulled the fourth shot, just wanted it to be in the same hole too badly, lol!!
Ok so before I post I know the easy answer is just get 3 rifles (I wish), but I am looking for a rifle caliber to serve three purposes; coyotes, deer, be fun as heck to shoot. I have enough big boomers to take care of anything I would come across. However I do not have a dedicated varmint /...
A friend of mine is doing the Euro mount for me. When he was skinning the skull three bones above the eye socket just fell out and hit the floor. The bones were broken on the same side as the one antler. So I am assuming that long ago injury is what caused the lack of an antler on that side.
I came across RL23 totally by chance. I had heard that a local pawn shop had some primers in stock so I went to get some and ended up finding powder there too.
Yeah my goal is to the 150 gr bullets (I have Speer Hot-Cors right now) to go 2950, possibly higher, in the 270. I have an older (better lol) Remington 700 with a 22 inch barrel like your Tikka.
TX I have tried 65 gr of IMR 4831 (max for Nosler) with the 150 partition previously in the 7 mag and not gotten to 3000. I have started to play with RL23 and I think it will allow me to get the 160 over 3000. With a very moderate charge the RL23 pushed 140's 2970 at the muzzle. Finding RL26...
I just picked up a pound of Reloader 23 before Thanksgiving. I have tried it in the 7 mag already and have some loaded for 270. I got good speeds with moderate charge weights in the 7 mag. I am excited to see how it will push 150 grain pills in the 270.
Pipes with a CBTO of 2.275 which was .010 off the lands gave me a cartridge overall length of 2.865 inches. Surprisingly plenty of room in the mag and they cycled great.
Dave, I have Savage 110 Hunter 7-08 and I am shooting the 120 B tips. I have them seated at .010 off of the lands and they shoot extremely accurate. 3 shot cloverleafs. Just got the rifle last spring and this was the first seating depth that I tried and it worked great so I did not try anything...
