    What's Your "Fun Gun"?

Agree on the 39A Guy. Since I found that gun at a show 4 years ago I have put a lot of rounds through it. .22 is reasonable to shoot, relatively quiet (enough so that I can shoot it in my backyard) and it's very good practice for everything else in my gun cabinet.

300 RUM 168 TTSX and Magnum Powder

Guy, I loaded my .338RUM with 250 Grain Partitions at 2940FPS and off the bench was definitely a rip snorter. Six shots and one headache later you definitely decided that was enough abuse.

    30-06 & 180...

I've run into the same thing over the years with old brass. Quite a long time ago I spoke with a Hornady Tech in regards to this and he stated that the Brass changes its molecular structure over a period of time and tends to get brittle. he stated that the materials used to make the brass also...

    At a loss for words...........

Went to my local gun show this past weekend and saw two Marlin 336's in good condition, both 30-30's. Price out the door was $1800.00. I thought that was high and kept walking. I guess I'm behind times. (and glad of it).

Flooding topics to not be a beginner

JD, I've been a member of the old fart's crew for quite a while. At 77 I definitely qualify. No complaints though, Got here mostly in one piece.

Caliber and Bullet Questions For First Yukon Hunt

Personally I would give some serious thought to Warne Rings and Bases and I would stay with their all steel version. I've used their set up for my .338 Ultra mag and for a .375 H&H and absolutely never had a problem. Their equipment is just plain tough.

    The new Marlins are out!

This past weekend my son attended a gun show in Arizona and the prices he saw on used Marlins were astronomical. Just a for instance a used 444 in good shape was going for $1400.00. Another used Marlin decent shape in 30-30 was $1350.00. With those prices I think I'll wait till I can get my...

Seeing some easing on reloading supplies.

Guy, I've been using small rifle primers in place of Small pistol primers on occasion and find they work very well, specifically in my 9MM. I know I'll get some negative responses but I've spoken with people that work in the shooting business and found out that in certain matches , ones that a...

    Lever Action Rifles

Over the years I've owned a lot of Lever Actions and the one I miss the most and continually kick myself in the butt for selling was a Marlin 336 Texan in 35 Remington built in 1968. That particular rifle was my first Hunting Rifle. Four years ago I attended my local gun show and made it a...

    New Hi-Power

Vince, I had another site pop up this morning that said FN will have the High Power available sometime around March. The price as compared to the Springfield is "WOW" different. Well over a thousand dollars. The Springfield sounds like a much better idea. I've been toying with the idea of...

    I'm thinkin I need a 338

Agree with Str8meat. I've shot a number of .338's over the years and my favorite is my M700 in .338 Ultramag. The rifle wears a Zeiss 1.5X6 scope which a lot will say is definitely not enough power. I can honestly say a lot of Elk would disagree with you. Yes it does dish out a bit of recoil but...

    Happy Birthday, DrMike

Have a 'GREAT" B-day Doc. I'm ahead of you by two and still get out in the woods. At our age we bless the days we "hop" out of bed in the morning, ready to tackle whatever shows up needing repair or other assistance.

    300 Win Mag...200gr+

Scotty, thanks for the information on the 200 grain and H4350. As you know I moved the throat out to 3.620 for the 180 Grain Federal Trophy bonded. They shoot very well with RL26. I have had the bug for a while now to shoot 200's out of my Ridgeline. With the extended throat I should be able to...

muzzle brakes and recoil reduction question

Charlie, pick yourself up a set of Electronic Muffs. I use them for hunting (I'm pretty much deaf from the Military) and boy, what a difference.

    Happy Veterans Day!

Thanks very much Guy. My time in the Military was from 1963 -1968. Seems like it was forever ago. A lot of interesting experiences remembered. I wouldn't have traded that time for anything else.

Magnum pistol primer experiences with 45 acp

upon reading the posted comments I decided it was time to open my mouth (and probably get a number of negative posts). I have no experience with large pistol magnum primers used instead of standard large pistol but I have on many occasions used small rifle primers in place of small pistol...

    9mm Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator

30 inch penetration is a bit of an overkill. The problem is going to be what's on the other side of your target. Over penetration gets the person that's not involved hurt.

    Remington reloading components

The folks at Remington have said yes, they have all the plans to manufacture Reloading components. The reloading section is a separate entity and it is still being put together. It should be operational by earlier next year.

    Vaccine mandate and Nosler

Just so everyone knows, the cost of a Pfizer shot is $167.00. I guess we must have quite a bit of money in Washington cause they are sure spending like heck.
