I'll take you fellers advise and leave the 145 g.s. in the box for the 280 rem .I have a box of 120 nos. bt's setting on the bench and ordered a box of speer 130 boat tails ,surely i can figure something out that will work to kill a whitetail or a coyote .

I talked to a tech at speer today ,he seemed to think the g.s. would work for me he said as long as that bullet had 1000 ft. pounds of energy it would open and work like it should .Now I just have to figure out how far that bullet will shoot and maintain 1000 ft lbs of energy ..

Would this bullet perform good out of a 7-30 waters 23 inch barreled contender carbine?

Ablr 100 grain for my 6.5 grinner...

Got a new 7-30 waters headed my way ,was just looking for some good loads folk have had good luck with ..

I'd use it I had a can of IMR 4831 that did the same thing from back in the 80's it shot fine ..

I have too agree with you sir IMR4831 is the best powder i have used in a 243, and i have tried alot of different powders..

I have my dads old 760 bought in 1965 it's a 30-06 and will shoot under and inch all day long with 150 nosler partitions ....

130's are all i shoot out of my Tikka 260 rem and I have had really good luck with RL19 powder ..

Looks like it's going to be hard to beat factory performance to me might be cheaper in the long run to buy them already rolled...

My barrel is 18 inch barrel 2500 with either the sst 123 or the 120 gold dot is what i'm hoping to get with 1 inch group at hundred yards . I never dreamed this cartridge was as touchy on pressure spikes as everyone keeps telling me i'm kinda at a disadvantage trying to work up a load for it...

My barrel is a 10 inch .

Alderman if you don't mind me asking what barrel length did you get the 7 tcu in ?

1 shot if what i'm reading from speer is correct your about 3 grains over max with 28 grains of imr 8208 no wonder your getting pressure signs .

1 shot are you getting descent velocity with this load ?

Thanks for the info. 1 shot if you don't mind me asking. What load and bullet are you using ,also what seems to be the reason for getting pressure problems with the 120 speer g d bullets ?
