Toying with the idea of getting a .260 Rem. I have a 6.5x55 my son a 6.5 Creed so thought this might round out this size 6.5 rounds for us. So my question is if your were going to use a 120-130 gr bullet and you had on hand H4350, RL19, IMR 4350,IMR 4831 and H4831 which powder should I try first? I'm thinking H4350. What are you guys using or have used?

Did a reduced load for a friends son using H4895 but looking to get top end velocity with best group. Thanks, Dan.

My best load is 4831, using 130 or 140’s. Mid way on the Nosler book as it’s for my wife, not shooting for a fire breather

I have yet to begin to procrastinate

in 120 - 130's I use RL17 , in the 140's I use RL26

H4350 gives up 100 FPS when used with a 125 gr Partition , compared with RL17 .

I have a lot of my load info in the rifle section on my throating thread .

I load 140s and use h4831, i also have some 129s but as a reduced recoil using h4895.

Thanks everyone. Forgot about RL17 and I do have some RL26 to try with 140 gr bullets if I decide to try this round. Dan.

Anyone use the 130 gr Nosler AB in the 260 Rem on whitetail deer and tell me their results? Dan.

Those of you that use H 4831 sc in your 260's what kind of speed do you get? I have had great accuracy but fairly slow speeds with it. Use mostly H 4350, IMR 7828 ssc and some IMR 4451 these days in mine.

Only blacktails for me with that bullet but I really like what they do, exit holes about 1-1 1/2 inches on average and quick kills. Can't tell any difference between them and the 140 gr Ballistic Tip on game so far.

I got 2900 FPS with a 140 B-tip in my 260 , that would be my pick for deer hunting . I assume it would be bad news for deer .

Three rounds that have done quite well for me.

120 Grain Nosler BT -> 44.4 grains of H4350, 2830 FPS
129 Grain Nosler ABLR -> 46 grains of RL-23, 2750 FPS
129 Grain Hornady Interbond -> 45.9 Grains RL-23, 2750 FPS

Thanks!

130's are all i shoot out of my Tikka 260 rem and I have had really good luck with RL19 powder ..

My daughter has had excellent results with her .260 rem using H4350 and the Sierra 120gr Pro Hunter. This combination has been very accurate and consistent in her rifle and has been pure deer poison around here.

I killed several deer with this combo when I had a 260. Dont remember powder or speed though. It was a great setup on deer for me. I only managed to recover one bullet though. It had a beautiful mushroom. Shot a buck facing me in the chest, and recovered the bullet from right under the hide in the rear hindquarter. Distance was around 60 yards.

I shoot the 130 AB, I use 45g of imr 4350. I don't get blazing speed but I get 2870 fps. I believe this a max load from the nosler manual. I am getting 1/2 moa and my daughter has taken 2 deer with it. She shot one at a bad angle not understanding that she was supposed to be trying to angle it to the off side shoulder, (my fault) but the bullet passed the length of the mule deer and exited. Deer is still dead, and in the freezer.
