Well Bullet, I'm sorry to hear about your barrel problem but look forward to your new build up of your 8mm Rem Mag. I know i have thought about changing one of my Ruger #1's to 8mm RM with maybe a 28" barrel someday but thats a ways off. I'm also glad to see you put a Hogue aluminum pillar...
220 & 250 grs on the 8mm, I personally like the heavier bullets in 8 mag, 140 & 175grs on 7mm for 7X57 & 7stw & 250grs for the 9.3X62 & .375H&H. The ? in my mind is appropriate wall thickness ( .030 or .035 for deer, elk & pigs) to use and asking for load help is a good idea, thanks.
Wow, thanks bullet for the info on Hawk bullets. I've only heard of them and know no one with any first hand knowledge of their performance. After reading your post I immediately looked them up online and plan on giving them a call to order some to try later this week....Dan
Man, walk away for a couple of days and look at all the traffic  I think as soon as you confirm your testing and I get a chance, I'll try your load Bullet and see how well my gun likes it, maybe I could make it my out of state load. But as for me and thanks to my high minded...
Good job Bullet, there is nothing quite as satisfying as a good day at the range and discovering such promise. :?: Is that a PVM chrono that you're using,I have a damaged one and am waiting for replacement parts, but I like them. Also, did you get any pressure signs with your load and finally...
Well Bullet, I had a hard time trying to reduce the view size, format and upload of my little spreadsheet. Before I try doing anymore I think I'll try -edgeamicating- myself somemore before trying to upload anymore....woooooh
As for your test tomorrow, Good Luck & Good...
I'm interested the your results with IMR7828 as I don't have much experience with it. Here is part of my finish up with the 200gr tsx and since I had a few primed cases left over I loaded some 250gr Woodleighs. I had bought a box of Dbl-Tap 250gr Wooedleighs advertised at 2800fps w/a 26" barrel...
I'm excited about the test out doing and can't wait to see the results as the 8mmRM is one of my favorite cartridges. I tried the Accubonds once but didn't have much success I forget the powder I tried. I use to shoot 220gr GK's behind RL-22 at about 2900fps but only obtained 1-1.5 MOA...
Hi Elkman, I have nothing against RL19 but I think there are powders more appropriate for the 7STW in 160gr- 175gr bullet range. I would look at using RL 25, H1000 or the powder I'm using at the moment VVN-570. I'm shooting a Ruger #1B 26" barreled rifle and am consistently grouping 1.75" at my...
Oh yea I forgot, I'm using a Leupold 2.5-8 VXIII scope with a Boone & Crocket reticle and the trajectory matches the reticle very closely all the way out to 500 yds. Hope this helps.
I have a 7x57 Ruger #1 Int. 20" barrel rifle and although my load is with a 139gr Hornady GMX I think it would be similar for a 140gr Accubond or E-Tip. My load was worked up with Quik Load which over all is fairly accurate. Mine is 48.0gr Norma URP @ 3.11" OAL, R-P brass & Wolf primers...
For what it's worth, I would purchase a box each of Noslers loaded ammo in BT's. Accubonds & Partitions. You should get some base MV's and maybe a preference for one over the other. My favorite hunting rifle is my 8X57 Remintgon Classic. I've used 180gr Nosler BT's on deer and pronghorn out to...
I ran the numbers for the powders you listed. The parameters are 7 WSM, 168gr VLD @ 2.86 OAL, up to Max Pressure 64500psi, up to 100% fill of powder.
