No Love for the 7 Mag?

One of the older guys in my hunting group had a 7mmRM and I was in awe of it as a kid. I watched him kill deer WAY out there with is and always wanted one. I inherited a Browing A-bolt from my late father in law, but could not get it to shoot so I sold it and got a Tikka T3 and it loves 150...

    Wisconsin hunting

I have been hunting in WI for 24 years and have targeted deer, turkey, and bear for the most part. I will start with bear. There are 4 zones in the state. 3 allow hounds and are in the northern 1/3 of the state. Drawing a tag takes 5-10 years depending on the zone. I drew mine in 6 years...

    Spring Turkey 2017!!!

I like to take the breast and cut it into 2-3" hunks. From there, I pound them flat with a meat mallet and coat them in seasoned flour before frying in hot oil until golden brown. For the thighs/legs, I slow cook them and then pull them for tacos.

    Spring Turkey 2017!!!

2017 is in the books and it was a good one. I was not able to take a kid out during the Learn to Hunt or the state youth hunt due to a vacation but I was able to get out during season B-F here in Wisconsin. The numbers of birds were not as strong as the last few years which made me focus on...

    6.5-06 issues?

I just went and checked the barrel for free float and action screws. The screws are set to Ruger spec and the barrel is floating. The scope is tight as well. ??? I plan on trying RL22 this weekend with the 140 hot cors.

    6.5-06 issues?

My best load was 55.5 grains of IMR7828. It shot 1.125" with two touching and one out at .010" off the lands. From there, I tried seating some deeper. .020/.035/.050" off the lands and they shot 1.75-2.5" groups. Speeds were 3065 fps with 55.5 grains.

    6.5-06 issues?

I am trying to get my 6.5-06 shooting and am struggling. I have tried 143 exld and 140 Hot Cors with IMR7828ssc and I can't get anything worth messing with. 2-4" groups. I have 90 rounds down this new PacNor 8 twist barrel but nothing to show for it. I plan on trying RL22 and H4831sc before...

    Ruining A Good Load

After reading all the posts, I agree that accuracy is number one. I personally would retest the load and if it repeats, keep it. But because it is early spring and I like to tinker, I would try getting a touch more speed and see if it is still shooting accurately. Lastly, I have only shot 2...

    Newest bout of RADD

Great rifles. My wife bought me one for my wedding present. Grandpa carried one across France, Belgium and part of Germany. He does not care for guns and I can understand why, but I did show him mine and when I did, he handled it like he was 19 again. Like Scotty said, a different breed of men.
