I am trying to get my 6.5-06 shooting and am struggling. I have tried 143 exld and 140 Hot Cors with IMR7828ssc and I can't get anything worth messing with. 2-4" groups. I have 90 rounds down this new PacNor 8 twist barrel but nothing to show for it. I plan on trying RL22 and H4831sc before I give up on these two bullets.

If they don't work, I'm thinking I need a lighter bullet. My goal for the rifle is to deer/antelope hunt with it. What bullet would you suggest I try next?

I should imagine that an eight twist should stabilize those bullets. What sort of jump are you allowing? That could make a difference. If any of your loads show a low standard deviation (less than 1%), then adjusting seating depth would potentially address the accuracy issue.

I think Berger's website has a calculator for weight of bullet and twist rate.

I'd try some 140 gr. Accubonds and Partitions after you give these a whirl. Maybe some 120 gr. E-tips. Those things would be smoking out of that rifle!! I think H4831SC would be a good one as would IMR4350 or H4350 if you have some of that handy. Best of luck.

here is a powder chart for you to look at , maybe it'll help you choose another powder to try that you already have . IMR7828sc looks like something I'd have bet on working well . what powder charges have you tried ?

Cartridge : 6.5-06 A-Square
Bullet : .264, 140, Speer SP 1441
Useable Case Capaci: 63.146 grain H2O = 4.100 cm³

My best load was 55.5 grains of IMR7828. It shot 1.125" with two touching and one out at .010" off the lands. From there, I tried seating some deeper. .020/.035/.050" off the lands and they shot 1.75-2.5" groups. Speeds were 3065 fps with 55.5 grains.

IMR 7828 would not me my first choice of powders. Considering the situation that you are describing, I would encourage you to try a 140gr bt with either H4350 or IMR 4350.

Good advice, that.

I just reread your first post . has this gun shot anything good yet ? do you have a gun problem ? are the action screws tight ? is the bbl touching in the stock ? does the magazine box float , or is it pinched tight when the gun is all put together ? is the scope tight ? is the scope good ?

I agree with this.
Second, I think you're too fast for the node.
Here's a method I just started using that seems to be working. It'll find your nodes quickly with very few rounds down the tube. You'll need to shoot 10 or so differing rounds, each one chrono'd.

I might try taking the best load and trying some different primers. I have been playing R-26 in several rifles and would give that a try. Also with several 6.5 rifles, a 6.5x55 and 2 264's I have had good results with 140 Sierra GameKings.

I just went and checked the barrel for free float and action screws. The screws are set to Ruger spec and the barrel is floating.

The scope is tight as well.

??? I plan on trying RL22 this weekend with the 140 hot cors.

There is nothing wrong with the bullets you're using to test your new rifle. Try a different powder but only change one variable at time. Compare Nosler's published load data and other powders that you may have on hand and go from there.

My 6.5-06 likes a stiff load of H4831 and 140gr AB or Amax. 1/8 twist. My 260 and 6.5x284 also like this powder bullet combo.
