    Rifle received

Thanks for the update Jamila, And by the way, you and your folks are doing good work. Pretty sure that while carrying on the projects they do sometimes they have to step in dung................ just shake that off your boots and don't let it bother you................. :>)

    Rifle received

Hey Jamila, I'm late to respond...........too busy partying on the River Walk yesterday............. :>) Glad you broke in that rifle like you did. Like most here there would have been some drama if I had been there.............. drama in my shorts! Tell the gang I said hi and that my...

    Big Money will hurt Hunting

I don't begrudge those who pay the big bucks for places like that. If legal then they have the right and if it makes them happy then I'm more than good with it. Fact is I do things that some may not do and I'm of the opinion that we should all support the next guy's rights to do as they...

    Big Money will hurt Hunting

"if" I had the disposable income to drop $20K on a hunt it sure would not be a whitetail............ and I crave the huge whitetail like nothing else.................. Just not interested in a breeding farm or pen shot. Nothing about that appeals to me. Getting one that is a natural 150" or...

    Big Money will hurt Hunting

April, Spot on as usual. There are different hunts for different folks. I'm pretty sure Aleena did the marco polo because it is a huge challenge and she was up for it. That's all that matters............. Hope all is well with you........ chs

    Big Money will hurt Hunting

You're right, Anyone can buy a big buck if they have the money. Still can't buy the skills & experience that makes a seasoned hunter.................... that comes in small pieces over a long period of time.

    Whitetail... take the shot

Yes I take that shot, right after I crapped my pants................ 200 yards with a slightly heavy for caliber bullet from a .270 or higher. Not the best shot possible but, I would aim for just inside his left shoulder between it and the neck. About 3" off the bottom of his chest. My...

    Weatherby range certified

John, I would not because all the weatherby's that I have ever seen or used shot MOA or better. Furthermore, I know a long range shooter who sights in customers rifles and has done so with dozens of weatherby rifles. According to him the worst of the lot would shoot .75". By the way, a...

    Excellent article, hunting & conservation

I noticed this when my kids were young, that is their friends where not into hunting. As a matter of fact most of them had a negative opinion regarding that my two boys hunted. They even had a name for it...."redneck sport" I guess I should not have been surprised but, it did hammer the fact...

    Two or Three pointers

Be safe at all times, never point a rifle in the direction at any time.......loaded or unloaded Make your hunt enjoyable for you Always do the right thing.................. I like to tell this story about a very young hunter. At a friends camp he had a week every year that a lot of guests...

bullet performance on big game discussion

It can't be just one................... that is quick expansion without penetration is no good and all the penetration in the world without expansion won't be near as effective. To that end I'm a believer that a bonded bullet that will expand greater than 2x while keeping most of it's weight...

    Elk, take the shot?

April, I'm sure Guy is a brute and all that but, I was speaking of the bull.

    Elk, take the shot?

    What a brute!

    Elk, take the shot?

I'd probably not take this shot. Mostly because it is usually a low percentage shot and can result in the bull running for miles. If I had been stalking this bull my fear would be screwing it up because of haste. Based on the info Guy has given my first action would be to freeze so that he...

A few expensive or a lot, less expensive

I'm a fan of quality over quantity and they do not have to be all that expensive. They just can't be "cheap"............. My reasoning is there is so much overlap with cartridges that just a few will handle all situations. That being the case I would rather have something that I really enjoy...

    A Relic

I'll be there in April,..........April. :>) The offer still stands, meet there on the River Walk and the first one is on me.

    A Relic

[/b] Are you kidding??????? You better believe it! That rifle will never leave me. Too much history for one and a fantastic shooter too.

    A Relic

"Better ballistics"........ I was guilty of that same thing many years ago when young and stupid. Now, I'm no longer young. Read up on all the ammo at the time and the rifles and how great all the new stuff was. Some 30 years later there is not all that much difference between all of them...
