Australia is giving away a lot of powder to Ukraine which is why you guys are seeing increased prices on some of Hodgson's favourite brands (eg Target, H4350, 4895). Heck I heard our market is drying up on these too. Projectiles here continue to be in relatively good supply but expensive. I...
Investments into things like brass is purely based on a P&L evaluation on a product line. Lack of brass for instance (and in this case 25-06) is simply a commercial decision. I can't recall when I last saw a new rifle come to market with 25-06 as an offered chambering, and I'm not talking...
Australian Defence Industries (ADI which is actually owned by a French company called Thales) make a lot of powder fore Hodgson and there was an announcement by our Prime Minister during last year about how we were going to donate all they were going to be donating large volumes of powder to...
Can't go back in time, only go forward and incrementally pick up bits and pieces over time. Once day even these prices will seem cheap. A key difference today is availability more than price
Anything on top of salvation is cream as far as I'm concerned. Hoping to get my 270 out this weekend up on the Darling Downs about 3hrs west of Brisbane (y)
I wasn't sure where to post this as it kinda sits in the Test forum area as well but the review isn't specific to a calibre so here it goes....sorry if this is the wrong locations...
Completely predictable. I think if people are expecting any pricing reprieves then they are to be sadly disappointed. I've posted here and other places about why I believe the days of low prices are but a memory and we will only see higher prices. Factors such as the cost of the raw...
My wish list is that Nosler would once again enter the projectile manufacture business. They used to make great projectiles but seem to have since ceased manufacture.........(tongue in cheek)
Atomic29. Check them out on their Facebook sight. about a third cheaper than Barnes with equal or better performance

Ok, taking exchange rates into consideration, that is a fair bit less than what we pay over here. If they can be purchased at all, then around $160 USD is becoming quite common for Large Rifle Primers here. Interesting. Thanks.
The site is geo-locked to I can't access it. I'm just curious what you blokes are paying for a brick of primers. I thought I read a figure somewhere close to $150 somewhere but can't be sure
I live inconsistently with the mantra of "If in doubt chuck it out"....I try to live but this but have successfully lived life past the edge on occasion for various reasons. For mine, I would throw the remaining cases in the bin if I had ready access to replacement brass
If I use my 7/08 as the example then we are paying about:
$0.17/primer
$1.25/case
$.77c a projectile (assuming you shoot almost anything other than Nosler or barnes bullets)
about $.41c per charge for powder
That's about $2.60 AUD per shot (obviously it gets cheaper as you re-use the brass)...
I have never weighed or sorted brass in my life but I rarely shoot to put a hole in a piece of paper. As such I would not have thought that 13 grains between manufactures was all the significant to be honest. I would have assumed that across all the dimension of a case and the variations in...
