Sorry, I can't talk you out of it. I have one and love it. Factory ammo is expensive, its the reason I started reloading. Ya the brass is more spendy than some more common calibers but the smile it puts on my face is worth it. A 110g Accubond @ 3475 fps is euphoric.
It doesn't matter where you zero your rifle as long as you know what its trajectory is through practice. Some say 3" high is no big deal, I prefer 2" so my rifles are zeroed with no more than 2" of rise and I know my hold over at ranges beyond zero. Do what YOU are most comfortable with, YOU are...
My .270 WSM spits out 130 AB into 1/2" groups. I've never felt the need to look for a different bullet. If I were to take it hunting for something elk sized or larger I might look to a 150 g or larger bullet. For now though I will keep piling up deer with it.
