460 Rowland conversion is the most power you can safely pack in a 45acp semiauto. I don't have a M&P but run a Kimber II Target model w/ a 5" barrel. All the listed velocities are over my chrono with both GA ammo and handloads using either Longshot or PowerPistol. Also imo the 460R is easier to...
Warne & Leopold make Ruger ring mounts also. Don't know if there is any price advantage. Don't believe you can mix them because they have height differences. You could put a wanted to buy post over on Rugerforum.com. If you call Ruger they will want the serial # so they can match the finish. I...
"The .358 is considered a medium bore caliber and not suppose to carry energy due to the low BC of the fat short bullet design from what I have read and this is my first experience with shooting any thing with a bullet larger then .308. except with a muzzle loading rifle and 12ga slug."
Well...
I use a drop tube. I never crush powder kernels. If your OAL is increasing as you increase powder charge with the same seating die setting, it's too much. If they are longer the next day, it's too much.
Well, everything just everything you wrote and the pictures. I've hunted down that way a few times, near Eagle Pass... Never for deer, just hogs, coyotes, javalina and the odd bobcat on a ranch that does trophy deer hunts. There are more critters out there than a sane man could imagine.
Agree the fasted load in a long barrel will be the fastest in a shorter barrel. Have seen in it rifles and pistols. Basing powder choice on barrel length instead of the cartridge is a waste of more than time. If you end up with ejecta out of your barrel it's because the powder is inappropriate...
Well I won't make a caliber suggestion as you have a lot of good ones already other than to say the Bob has been "dying" for about 60 yrs. I went through the same process with my son a few years ago and this is what I have learned. Recoil level is important but wasn't THE most important thing...
I use the 225 Partition in my 358 at 2500fps. Have taken elk and moose cleanly. The moose was close, shot in the left chest and the bullet was lodged against the opposite side hip joint. The elk was broadside at 200yds, double lunged and the bullet kept going after expanding well. I don't know...
They have been an exclusive of Lipsey's for some time. The discontinuance is Lipsey not placing any more orders. Ruger has not been out promoting them for quite a while. Their profits are being driven by other products. I too love the #1 as I do the #3. However I only ever purchased one #1 new...
270 WSM for light deer rifle. Never owned a 7mm anything. Never even owned a 270Win, but I have a Ruger 270WSM with a 23" barrel and a Ruger 1B 270Wby with a 26" barrel and never saw any advantage to 7mm. Especially for deer.
