I agree also. Call and they'll likely tell you to get some 4895. Fillers can work but they introduce a whole 'nuther set of issues. The risky work has already been done... take advantage of it.
I'd figure out which I wanted use between the 260 and 270 grainers first. Get a good zero dialed in for mpbr and then see where the 300's print. You may find one sight setting will work for different bullet weights. I've seen more than one 375 do this. With good QD mounts that positively rtz I'd...
I'll reiterate Fotis' question... What range for that group? Stainless by itself won't prevent corrosion issues and not all stainless is created equal. I have no idea how Rossi's stainless would fare in that environment. I CAN tell you the stocks are not ready for that environment out of the box...
I don't think there are any "bad" bullets for the 375 H&H. I would go with those 270gr partitions (unless the 270gr Hornadys or Speers shot noticeably better) just for a little more reach over the 300s.
I've got one of these with the large loop lever. You've got all the good dope on these rifles already. Nate (Stevesgunz) is the guru on these. Mine wouldn't feed the long heavy WFN bullets initially but wasn't hard to correct. Don't want to get into a debate about 44 vs 45 but the 45 will do...
I've got the book... The 22 Hi-Power was introduced in the Model H featherweight take-down in 1912. The 22 Hi-Power chambering was discontinued in 1946. Muzzle velocity is listed at 2800fps so I think that 3100 number is pretty optimistic. Besides that would change history as the 250-3000 was...
The 416 Rigby Ruger was likely a RSM (Ruger Safari Magnum). They are out of production. You won't get more rifle for the money with the Ruger. The 1H in 375H&H is available through Lipsey's. Here is my big bore #1.
Although you will cut recoil down some with 150-165s at 2800-2900fps, I got to agree with hodgeman's last paragraph. I guess it depends if you are wanting a "go to" load or not. I like to get set up and zeroed with a load that I'd use for everything I'd use that rifle for. I hate re-zeroing for...
That right there is some excellent advice! That way the guide will know exactly what you are capable of and where he has to get you to on the hunt. Confidence for everyone in the camp is a good thing.
I wanted one and looked for a long time before I found mine. If you want a collector piece they are relatively easy to find but you will likely pay for the privilege. I saw a lot of them beat up and overpriced at shows. Many with split wrists. Then one day I walked into a local shop and they had...
I run a bead vs a blade on all my aperture sighted rifles. They are all hunting rifles vs paper punchers. For the range I use a dot or a circle larger than the bead and shoot center. Seeing a small bull is not the point of the exercise nor is it necessary. If your ring / circle fits tightly...
