Thanks for the comparison Guy, very interesting. When I have time I will try to do a similar comparison of the creedmore to the .270 win. Probably not as telling as your work, it will be interesting to see..

My experience is limited to the BOG tripod after shooting two animals in Montana last fall while using the tripod.. It doubles as a walking stick, if you are careful not to bang the legs together it is quiet, and the increase in stability is great for me. Before last fall I thought it was just...
I have found 56.6 gr of IMR 4451 under a 180 grain Partition to be very accurate and effective on Mule Deer and elk.. using Nosler cases and Federal 210 primers. Velocity runs about 2,730 fps out of a 24" barrel. In my Ruger #1 with a 22" barrel I drop about 30 fps. Good luck.
The picture was taken in my Dad's garage, the old lanterns are long gone. My Dad and I hunted together back when I was a young fella. The shotgun is my Browning Sweet Sixteen, a birthday present from Mom and Dad. It has a place of honor next to my Dad's Browning Light 12 in the gun cabinet...
Dan's post is 100% accurate as far as the story goes.. Omitted is the fact the winds were in constant change this morning and the buck was not coming from the bedding area as I expected him to do. It was a wonderful day, Dan even went back to his house and brought us a wonderful...
Does anyone have experience with lead free bullets? I have used Nosler Partitions and Accubonds with great success. The only reason I see to switch is to be more sensitive, responsible, toward the environment, specifically eagles and other critters feeding on entails left in the field. The...
Congratulations Dan, your hard work has paid off... I hope that you have a tag left so that you can go out with me and "Thump" a big doe with your 450 Marlin in a few days. (y)
The long anticipated 2017 Montana Hunting Trip is nearing a close. What a season it has been.
First off, Rodger, aka Truckdriver and I started planning a get together to hunt elk and deer last winter when we met for lunch in Maryland with our wives. Rodger had learned of my previous successes...
Congratulations Troy, very nice reward for your dedication and effort. Hunting memories that you can carry in the future are treasures. Great that your family joined in the hunt.
Ok , Rodger aka captain Kodak caught me and shares half of the story.. This photo was taken after my return from a significant hike up the trail beyond where he chose to hunt. I was searching for the elusive wapati that has yet to be encountered.
We did have a good hunt and I will be at it...
We are down to the wire, tomorrow is Rodger's last day to hunt elk in Montana.. we have enjoyed our hunting together.. lots of stories but no tags punched yet. I will give Rodger the opportunity to fill in details, with at least one picture after the hunt concludes
Wishing everyone...
Sounds like your solo hunt was very satisfying Guy. I will be solo fly fishing for a few days next week before I meet up with Rodger. Being solo in the open country sure helps me put things in perspective. Just being out there is rewarding, the fish are catch and release, just frosting on the...
