Doing some load development for my Mossberg MVP and wondering what powders to try initially. Mine is the 24” barrel varminter. Just loaded up some Hornady 55gr V-Max, 55gr Nosler CT and regular BT over H335. Twist rate is 1-9”. Thinking Varget and maybe 748?
Had my 444 out to the range today and tried some 300gr Hornady XTP with H335. Bottom is 3 shots at 50grs and top is 51grs. It’s only 50yds, but shows some promise.
Would anyone have Sierra data for the 300gr? I have quite a few and just wondering what a good powder would be to try first.

My eyes aren't what they used to be, so looking for suggestions for scoping my lever action. Was thinking low powered variable with Weaver see through rings just as a backup?

Thanks for the suggestion. I might have to give them a try. I only have the 180gr BTSP, but will pickup a box of the ELD-X. I have quite a few powders (IMR & H4350, RL22, W760, H4831, RL19)
I just can't get the 180's to shoot well. Have tried the BT and AB over H4350, RL22, W760. Just does not like them. I'm ok with 150-165 though. Just strange. Was going to try some 180 Hornady and see if any better.
Liked the Patriot so much, I bought a MVP as well :)
Got out to the range and this time took the chrono.
130gr AB
59grs H4831sc
R-P case
WLR primer
3.320" OAL
I know I screwed up the second group. Pulled the shot.
Fired six rounds over the chrono in the following order:
3110 < cold bore
3102
3078
3064
3058
3082
Dan, I have only used BT on deer so this will be my first time with AB. Hoping to get a chance at elk as well this season, so feel more confident with the bonded bullet.
I have owned quite a few rifles, and must say the M70 sure feeds nice and smooth.

Thanks guys. I really like this rifle, especially the trigger. Never used the AB on game yet, so looking forward to the season for hopefully a successful result. I did try RL22 with the Hornady BTSP. Shot not too bad, but nowhere near the BT or AB.
Yes, it sure likes the Accubond. I am heading out again and this time will run the load over the chrono. Mine has a 22" barrel, so might be around 3050 or so.
