I have used the 30-06 and .303 British using 150gr, 165gr, 180r and 220r with the 06 and the 174gr, 180gr and 215gr with the .303 on animals from south Mississippi, out west, midwest, the northeast and in Africa - I would carry either cartridge and drop game which indeed I have over the years...
Depends on the caliber, you have to work with it sometimes and sometimes you don't depending on the caliber and cartridge, but they are not match bullets.

Well the rifle is not coming on this trip. The stop at the rear of the receiver is not quit forward enough to completely eject the case after firing. Will have to get that attended to and I don't have time to mess around with it at the moment with all of the work in front of me to get finished...

I also find that ball powder does not group as tight in my 06 or any 06 I have ever owned.
I also find as you do that especially the Accubonds need to be seated deaper as most hunting...
The only 150gr bullet I really like is the GS HV because I drive it 3150fps in a 22" barrel so I will be right at 3100 with this 24" barrel and do not have to worry as much with wind drift at 500 and 600yds. Other wise I will be using the 165gr which I like a lot better on any game up to Elk in...
