    pics of bullet collections

RemMan, Looking at your PT pics I notice two things: 1) They seem to have lost their front core, but they are pretty much maxed in the mushroom dept. SO, I guess that is acceptable? 2) The AB's look pretty much the same but actually held onto their upper core, at least a trace of it. I...

    7mm-08?

I agree with Flowers. I go up in one grain increments until I either find what I am looking for or the pressure signs show up. If the accuracy is within 1" @ 100 yds, I then back up in 1/10 gr at a time. I don't stop at the manuals max load. THe manual shows 72 gr as max for IMR 7828 with...

    Accubond test!

257 in and 257 out ??? Entrance wound bullet diameter, bullet expanded as intended & mushed the vitals, tough armor gristle on pig sheered the petals off the bullet and it then exited. What's the problem?!

    Barnes ? ?

Cam/Cat, Sometimes it pays to not get lost in the details. When it comes to Nosler bullets...and you can deposit this advice in your 401K,.....if your gun won't shoot Nosler bullets, it won't shoot anything. Like Longwinters suggests, use 'em right out of the box just the way they come. I...

    Help with 150g sgk loads

Just my two cents......any load I ever tried with Fed 215's or any other Fed primer was not commensurate with accuracy in any of my shooting irons. I won't use 'em.

    Ballistic tips

My comments are not intended to refute anyones input here. I will speak from personal experience. I loaded 180 gr BT's for my 300 Wby to 3250 fps. I encountered an Axis Buck and engaged him at roughly 200 yds. I picked a dot on his hide and stuck him right in the ribs. He went down. As I...

    7mm-08?

As rule of thumb: you should get roughly 50 fps increase with each grain of powder increase. If your rifle begins to exhibit sticky extraction, hard recoil or erratic groups....STOP!! I used RL15 in my 7-08. With short cases like this you will enter the law of diminishing returns with too much...

    Your experiences w/ Rel 19 vs 22 in 30-06 w/ 180 gr

RL19 & RL22 are not too far apart. In magnum cases they will often produce the same velocities. IMR 7828 & RL22 are usually 1 grain apart which results in an abberation of +/- 50 fps. I have burned more pounds of RL22 than I can remember. It is my personal favorite. I am sorry, I have never...

loads for 7mm weatherby with 160 accubond

Cow-a-bunga, I just bought me a way cool 7mm Wby barrel for my Encore. I have a great load for 140 AB's, 70 gr RL22 & CCI 250 -OR- 71 gr IMR 7828 & CCI 250. This load gets me 3000+ in my 24" barrel. I am not far away from getting the 160 loads working. My frames are in the shop getting an oil...

    25-06 troubles......

Remington Man, You heap many big smart. I am like you. I know what works & I know what don't and I don't care what others think. They don't own, shoot or hunt with my stuff. I keep my Barnes Bullets right by the front door to throw at the stray cats. I really think the cats deserve better but...

    25-06 troubles......

Chet, Every time I start with a new load I seat the bullet base to the shoulder base. I have done that the last three times with my 280 JDJ, 7mm Wby & 300 Wby. I found immediate 1/2" groups using this method. I am suggesting that to be a good starting point for you in the interest of your time...

    more testing with the 270

My suggestion was for 130 gr PT's. That load gave me 2800 fps from a 14" barrel.

Need help with elk and antelope load and bullet for 7MM Rem

I am pretty sure I am going with a 160 gr AB as a do-all load in my 7mm Wby. It will make things easier for me. The 140 is great for Whitetails but I think I'd rather whack Axis bucks & pigs with the 160. I think both are about as tough as a bull Elk. I talked to several (10+) Elk guides and was...

    Rockchuck pic

I may be a little off-topic with this comment. I own a Ruger 77 All Weather in 280 Remington and 7 WSM. THe 280 is a tack driver. My longest shot to date is a pig at 389 yards. I could not ask for more from an off-the-shelf gun.

Looks like the coyote I shot with a 165 Grand Slam at 75 yds with a Texas Heart Shot. Turned him inside out like a sock.

    7mm rem mag 140 AB

I wouldn't be scared of the 140 on Elk. Yes, the 150's or 160's may be a better choice -BUT- so is the 270 over a 30-30. I hear lots of stories about people hunting Elk with a 270 & 130 gr bullets. Don't see a 140 being any less effective. After whacking two Whitetails & an Axis with the 140's...
