Fire forming brass for a new to me 280AI yesterday.
Three shots, 200 yards.
Then I got the bright idea that since I was just fire forming cases I'd make it a 5 shot group.
Dang trigger monkey showed up again.
Load was RP brass
Fed 210 Primer
51.0 grs H380
140 SGK BTSP
MV was 2875 average...
Got the rear aperature replaced last night.
Had to stone it to fit and the lateral play is gone.
Put a NM spring guide in it too.
Have a shim kit for the gas cylinder which I'll get fitted tomorrow.
When Creedmore got me back into shotguns I was shooting a Benelli SBE or a Beretta Pintail as a duck gun.
As the itch grew I bought a Beretta 391 Sporting with 30 inch barrel.
Shot this ugly thing for about two years.
Ended up I had three of them.
2 12s and a 20.
Would shoot clays with it...
Only one I have seen work is a Zeiss Conquest with a Rapid Z 800.
It's mounted on a 26 inch barreled 7 Rem Mag that belongs to a buddy.
Zeroed at 200 with the center reticle it's spot on to 500 yards.
I have a Burris on a 243 with their BDC reticle and it's not even close.
Shotguns.
Honestly shoot more shotgun ammo in the course of a year than anything else.
The first Saturday of the month it's 5 Stand at our club.
The first Sunday it's 5 Stand at a neighboring club.
The next Saturday is Sporting Clays.
Not uncommon for our crew to go to the club on a Sunday and...
I ordered a Kreiger hooded rear aperature.
How does your rifle shoot ?
Everything I'm reading says 1.5 MOA is acceptable for accuracy without replacing parts and bedding the rifle ?
Looking forward to some range time with it, as soon as I get one deficiency corrected.
The rear sight aperature ( the peep ) moves laterally in the elevator housing.
Checked my Garand and it locks up like a bank vault.
When I called Springfield that told me it was normal.
Somehow having the...
The 75 Hornady's surprised me too for the price.
4 ARs that are 1/8 and a Tikka T3 Lite .223 also 1/8 locked in the safe.
Been loading them on a Dillon 650 with 23 grs of Benchmark and all 5 rifles are under an inch at 100 yards.
Find myself shooting more 223 than anything these days.
Great...
Wanted a Springfield M1A or some variant of an M14 since I shot one in the Army 35 years ago.
Stumbled on one I couldn't pass up.
Jan 2012 production M1A Loaded model.
Nat'l Match sights, barrel and trigger group from the factory.
Pretty figure in the stock too.
Fella I got it from said he shot...
Another nod for wool.
I duck hunt a lot and there is always the possibility of falling in the water.
Wool will keep you warm when wet and it breathes very well.
Best piece of gear I have that I never leave home without is a wool fatigue sweater from Cabelas that has a gore-tex windshear lining...
I load 65 gr SGKs for my 1/8 twist Tikka T3 on top of 25.5 grs BLC2.
Have some 5 shot groups at 200 yards that are under 3/4 of an inch IF I do my part.
Killed a doe with that rifle/load several years ago when my 264 malfunctioned on a hunting trip.
Shot her through the head with it at around...
Still have about a month of duck season.
With all the water from recent rains and a lack of birds as they are very scarce around here don't see any need to get up at 3:00 AM and go look at empty skies.
Goose season goes through the end of Jan and then conservation order for Snow geese starts...
Congrats on the deer Guy.
Trying to clean a deer without cutting yourself is one of life's impossible tasks I do believe.
I like your style sir.
A good Malbec is hard to beat !
I've had five of them, still have one in 243.
All solid one MOA or less rifles .
One was a 300 Bee. It shot Weatherby ammo with 180 Hornady bullets so well i never bothered reloading for it.
Merry Christmas Ladies and Gentleman, and a prosperous New Year to all.
I enjoy being here, great group of people and a vast knowledge base for sure.
Thanks one and all,
Howard
Sure has Pat.
Hard to believe there are people in this world that don't realize this.
We're working on another lease in Mo at the moment though.
Trying to lease a patch of river bottom ground along the Little Osage in Vernon county.
According to my buddy that lives there it hasn't been hunted...
That means you've probably never eaten " flying ribeyes " as well.
My wife doesn't care for the flavor of duck or goose however, she'll fight Mohammed Ali for a plate of sandhill crane.
They truly do taste more like steak than fowl.
It's the one hunt I go on each year that she actually...
