Ha! That rockslide is right up the road from where I live, and resulted in me having to drive 576 miles yesterday for work. Made for a 19 hour day- half of which was drive time.
I'd gladly sing, but it might run everyone off!
I know you guys probably get sick of all the QL requests and I feel bad asking. I want to buy the program. But all of my extra money always seems to go towards other stuff. And my old laptop would need to be replaced in addition to the cost of the program... Feel free to shoot me down, but if...
Thanks. I've used that calculator before. I wasn't worried about it. If a 75 amax will stabilize out of a 9" twist .223 at this elevation, I figured a 77 Sierra would be ok from a 9" swift...
Thanks!
I don't remember what the twist on his barrel is, but it isn't factory. I'm thinking maybe it's a 9" twist Shilen. And at a mile of elevation with that velocity, I bet a 9" will be more than adequate for that bullet.
A friend of mine asked me if I had any load data for a 220 swift with a 77 grain Sierra. Of course, none of my manuals have data for this combo of anything even close to it, and a Google search doesn't come up with any results. There aren't even a lot of results for a 22-250ai with that bullet...
I don't know if it's much help, but I shot a 180 nbt into milk jugs full of water out of my 30-06. Muzzle velocity was a shade over 2700, and I set the jugs up at either 20 or 25 yards. The bullet passed through 5, entered the 6th, and left a small cut on the back wall of that 6th jug. Retained...
Is rl23 in the new update? I wonder how it compares. Or maybe even that new imr powder- 7977?? Isn't it supposed to be double based? Might produce so pretty good velocities on certain applications as well...
I bought a batch of 1000 Winchester primers when I started loading a few years ago. And I had the exact same thing happen with what should have been well under maximum loads in three rifles. I finally switched to CCI 200's, and haven't had a single problem- even using the same lots of brass.
A friend and his wife killed several elk, including some decent bulls, with a 30-06 and 150 core-locts before he switched to exclusively longbow and she quit hunting. His opinion is that that was more than enough bullet. I don't see why a 150 NAB wouldn't work at least as well...
I tried rl17 with the 140 Berger, 150 lrab, and 162 amax. I have notes somewhere if you'd like specifics, but I think I ran them up to about 3025, 2875, and 2775 with no pressure signs. Some of that brass has probably been fired half a dozen times. Primer pockets are still tight, and I haven't...
If it interests anyone, the 185 and 210 ttsx have the same ogive and boat tail profile. Only difference is the length of the shank. Also, the 200 nbt and 225 accubond are very similar.
I, personally, don't trust manufacturer's published b.c. values. I would bet money there isn't nearly the...
