Guy, most years it’s worth the trip. I guided in Upland birds for five years hard and another couple years part time. Dogs were retrieving a thousand birds a year doing that. One of the reasons I went to part time was to go to South Dakota again. Im not making it this year either. For some...
I always liked Cooke Canyon when I was still up there. Great spot to work a dog. Enough cover to make it a challenging hunt, not so much you can’t see your dog-most of the time.
I have Leupold vx freedom 1.5 x 4x 20mm on my #1 375HH. I have at least 200 rounds fired with that scope, my record keeping is a little spotty. With a Kentucky windage hold on the target it generated this group at 300 yards the other day with 300 gr partitions.
List price is $215.00. The Whelen...
I still use 4064 @52.5 in my rifle. I haven’t changed a thing with that load for perhaps 40 years. Just seems to work just fine. Good luck on your hunt Big Buck, you are well covered with the 06.
Way back in the day a couple of new King County Sheriffs deputies got sent on an injured deer call. (King County Washington is home to Seattle). While K. C. Has a lot of deer they had received no training on the subject. A new KC Sargent arrived on scene. Sargent had achieved supervisor level...
I’ve been playing with how I might want it configured Initially I thought the cartriges running parallel with my arm would be good. But the way I hold the rifle when I reload I think perpendicular will be better.
I spent an hour or so going through my boxes of sporting stuff. Catherine asks...
I was going to say I joined this forum a couple years ago to find a few answers. Well it’s been 11 years and I’ve never needed to look elsewhere. Regardless, you’re in a good place to find answers.
I would commission something similar to a forearm guard or wrist band to hold a couple or three rifle cartridges. Thinking 300 HH. 375hh 275 rigby 257 roberts.
Something adjustable so I could wear it over shirt sleeves in Sept. or a heavy coat in November. Perhaps leather loop at the cartridge...
Well it seams obvious you know how to squeeze a trigger, your rifle is accurate, my guess is you’ll find an accurate load with that. Not curretly using 4831 in anything but it always performed pretty well for me. Good luck.
Looks good. My girls are still recovering from surgeries. Stitches in for another week. Then we get to start Chukar and Pheasant hunting. That gross looking mass weighed about 1 1/2 pounds from Miss Sugars armpit. Molly had some smaller non carcinomas removed since we were there kind of thing.
