Guys in our crew used them years ago and they were terribly explosive. But, recent reports seem to have them being tougher. Not sure if/how hornady made them tougher but it seems like they have.
Wow...that's a huge swing. Not surprising w/many powders to see 1fps per degree change.
That big of a velocity drop is so big the ONLY possible way it could be accurate is if you caught a 2nd accuracy node!
I have cheap harbor frt unit that looks suspiciously like the Lyman unit. I can say it didn't do good till I started using the hornady sonic cleaner solution. Then it came to life. But I have to say it left me thinking perhaps an old pot w/wooden spoon might also work pretty good with the...
Re ql and factory ammo speeds.
If factory ammo does 2930 fps and ql says it can be done at 64k pressure I'd be looking to work towards that w/a 26" barrel and factory freebore.
Wby brass is soft and tiny extractor circles wouldn't necessarily scare me off. Swipe marks or loose primer pockets...
My 340 does those horizontal strings w/some lighter bullets. Mine absolutely loves 250 partitions and 250 hornady spire points. I do most my testing at 200 yds. Its crazy to see a horizontal string that's 4" across but 1/2" high!
A recent test run of some 225 accubonds showed promise too..but...
I'm gonna give another vote to flat base bullets as being "generally" a bit more accurate for me.
If I have a fussy gun it usually seems it settles on a flat based bullet as its fav load too.
Can't say why..perhaps more wt concentrated in the barrels rifling?
I remember alot of gun articles in...
I've been using 308 brass and downsizing. Win brass is ideal cause it normally has thin .013" necks. If its brass with thicker necks I turn it before downsizing.
I pulled the expander stem from my rcbs FL die and use it sort of like a body die.
After reforming I lube case mouths w/imperial...
A little off topic but I used TB to test noslers 3030 ballistic tip at 1400 fps. I did it cause it was extremely accurate in my marlin...tossed 5 shots under an inch. I was able to site in so that the 3rd hash mark of my 2-7 Burris had me ringing a gong at 300.
My results proved to me the...
There might be another player making nosler brass up here in my home state of Wis by the name of Jagemann technology.
Always interesting when things get shaken a bit from normal suppliers.
I use a leadsled w/no problems but I do not weigh it down or strap a gun in it. I've never had a scope move in the mounts or had a scope failure let alone a stock problem.
That said I've never seen nothing but praise for the bull bags.
Noticed nosler is listing brass but can't find any info on Google searches.
Can't imagine blowing the shoulder out more than standard 270 wsm.
Maybe just a misprint?

So....I'm sure tomorrow in the Christmas spirit you will be listing EVERY LRAB made to date w/unlimited quantity......10% off.....and free shipping? LOL!
OK...I fell and hit my head on the ice!
JohnB...that's as great link.
Alot of the charges you worked up to mirror the latest hornady manual.
They list a Max of 47.5 under their 154s....and 46.0 under the 162 class bullets.
They show NO powder outperforming re17 with the heavier 708 bullets speed wise.
I just picked up a new Thompson weathersheild venture for $357 off gunbroker in 7-08.
These have a 1:9 twist and I've got some 168 lab here.
My go to powders to try will be mr2000 and re17.
Hoping to see at least 2625 fps.
If everything works out I think that start speed could keep the bullet...
