Suggestions for RE25 with 250 gr bullets for my .340 Wby. ?

I would think RL22 and 25 would be awesome in the 340. 25 might be a touch on the slow side, but the speeds look real good as well.. Can't wait to see your results.

Well still waiting for the RL25 to arrive.
Would like to get it worked up before we have to hibernate
its 23 here today blowing 25mph. Must be the HAARP people at work.

My best loads were with IMR 7828 SSC in the .340 Weatherby. RE 25 appears to be right up there as well.

I ran a couple loads with re25 in my 340 and it was poor on accuracy and alot slower than quickload predicted.
One of the reasons things are usually slower that ql predicts is it doesn't factor in the freebore in a weatherby.
That said I checked my records. I ran a 250 sierra with 87.5 grains re25 in a REMINGTON case and it only did 2810.
This gun usually likes 250 grainers around 2930 fps so I had a ways to go. And the rem case vrs a wby case is worth probably a full 1-1.5 grains.
Maybe your gun will be different but I'd recomend not investing in the re25 and sticking to I7828 as it's always been stellar for me in the 300wby and 340wby.

I have had good results with 7828 although with modest charges.
The horizontal string in this 5 shot group stopped after seating to 3.660
My Accumark always shoots high clean bore and cold first shot as
seen with the fouler

My 340 does those horizontal strings w/some lighter bullets. Mine absolutely loves 250 partitions and 250 hornady spire points. I do most my testing at 200 yds. Its crazy to see a horizontal string that's 4" across but 1/2" high!
A recent test run of some 225 accubonds showed promise too..but in general my gun does not like lighter bullets.

My CE Pro Chrono average was 2786 which is a tad bit faster than published data with a 26" tube. My thought is that the 3/8" of freebore speeds it up ? Who knows. Modest speed for 84 gr. As all of most do I work to pressure watching for falling velocity. My Accumark shows the same Factory Ammo Ejector mark @86gr of 7828. A faint Kiss you know? I can hardly believe some people load way beyond that without any signs. And yes 86 does approach 2900 but falls short of Weatherbys 2941 factory load with the same signs. Recoil is still modest for a lack of better terms. Cant tell the difference between 84 or 86. Increasing the seating depth to 3.660 gave impressive groups around .650 before the .338 subtraction. These were also SMK with and ogive measurement of 3.059 a real good jump. LOL

RL22 would work well but IMR7828 and even MRP would be a place to start working up loads as well :mrgreen:

Thanks to all that responded, the powder is here but its 10 deg today
I will load some tonite shoot this weekend and post the results. Its supposed to hit 50
this weekend.

I use RL22 with 225 TTSX bullets and they shoot lights out. For 250 grain bullets 7828 is tough to beat, mines spits them out at 2880 with accuracy.
