I took a 340 Wby to Africa back in '98. I was using the older Barnes 210 XBT over 82gr H4350 for 3200fps. Wicked!
I want to add it was a Custom 5.5-6# Match Grade Arms with the loudest, but super effective brake. It was so "effective" it shook the guts out of two name brand scopes, and I had to finish my hunt with my buddy's rifle ( I had given it to him so knew it thoroughly) Back home I had it rebarreled to a heavier barrel in 338WM, ported and only shot the 185 XLC. But that 340 WBY is an "Outstanding" round! I also like the 338 RUM but the WBY gives up noting to it!
