Too many bean counters not focused on customer satisfaction and repeat business. My last experience at Cabelas turned out ok, it took some time to find a clerk to help me and then he was not very helpful. Not at all flexible on the ticket price of a used gun. "We have to maintain our 30%...
Nice rifle and great shooting Guy.. In my limited experience with the '06 I have stuck with the 180 Partition or Accubonds and never had a problem. I think they are a good compromise for trajectory, velocity and energy. Based on your liking for the 165's I bought a few and have not loaded...
The scope is too large for hunting, but is very good for load development and sighting in..
The LGS says he wants to be there when I put the first scratch on it to see the tears running down my face :( :(
These are the first targets shot with my Ruger Number 1S in 30-06. I picked it up on the way home from vacation earlier this month and yesterday was the first opportunity to try it out. The target on the left is fired with the same loads that I have developed, and shoot well in my Remington...
I have 4 .22lr, a Remington single shot given to me when I was 12 yrs old by my parents. Winchester 61, family rifle, Remington nylon 66, and a Ruger 10/22, my wife's woodchuck gun.
I now have 3 30-06's, first a Remington 700 CDL, then added a Montana ASR, both are left handed.
Last but not...
Thanks for the post Guy, knock on wood I have not had problems since the early 90's when I had a Burris scope on a TC Encore pistol in .253 Win. Went to Leupolds and had no further problems.
Thursday I found a beautiful Number One that although previously owned appears to be unfired, at Cabela's in Greenville South Carolina. It has nice wood, but they had no scope rings for it so before I finalized the purchase I called Ruger Customer Service. The call was answered by a real...
Rodger, did you paint their tails so you can ID the little rascals when they find their way home? Just kinda wondering..?? Maybe you just made room for their relatives from the out skirts to come fill the void under your bird feeder.. Just thinkin... Looking forward to follow - up...
I true primer pockets as part of normal case prep. I will be switching to CCI primers shortly as I am low on Federals and have been unable to find more.
IMR4451 produces 2,730fps in my 24" 30-06 with 180gr Partitions and very good, sub MOA, accuracy. 56.6 grains in New Nosler cases get me to 2,730, once fired cases produced a 2,760 fps average. Good luck, Rol
Last month after shooting with NYDAN one afternoon, at dusk I set my Zeiss Conquest HD scope @ 10x and compared it to my STEINER PREADTOR XTREME 10x42 using just one side of the binocular and to my aged eyes the Steiner performed clearer, so I have to resist the temptation to buy more expensive...
I believe Hogdon, is dedicating their production capacity to the new enduron based powders.
Unable to find H4350 in my area I switched to IMR4451 with beautiful results.
In my 30-06 with a 24" barrel, new Nosler cases, Federal Large Rifle primer, and 56.6 gr of IMR4451, and 180gr Partitions I...
My wife, Linda and I stopped to meet Rodger and Jane yesterday so that we could have a face to face before we treck yonder to the Great State of Montana this fall in search of the wary and elusive Elk and deer that populate the state.
As might be expected, Linda and Jane struck it off nicely and...
Sounds like an opportunity of a lifetime and well planned. Best of luck.
If you are a horseman disregard what I am going to say. Seems like a long time in the saddle . If saddle sores are a possibility I have been told by a horse vet lady friend that going to a bicycle shop and buying padded...
I like the IMR 4451, the Remington has been action bedded, barrel free floats and a Timney trigger installed. Any suggestions on how to clean up the trigger? Checking with a pull gauge it varies from just over 2 lbs to a little over 3 lbs.
First "Thank You" to Dan for posting our target with my Remington 700CDL from yesterday. I have terrible computer skills.
It was interesting and educational to watch Dan firing his 450 Marlin, which I nicknamed "THE BIG BEAST"  No deer within Dan's field of fire will have a...
