Yeah I really like it in this 41 mag carbine.... the XTP is a good bullet but it doesn't b do so well above 1,500 fps when it hits hard bone.
That A-Frame though, anywhere from 1,000 fps on up to way faster than that 16 inch barrel will send it....it always looks just like the pictures in the...
Reviving my thread from last year with an update...
Just got back from the range doing preseason shooting, the load using the 210 Swift A-Frame is still shooting spot on this year... but the load using the 210 Hornady XTP isn't, nothing changed, same batch of bullets, brass, powder, and primers...
Looking good!
Gonna see if I can get to the range with my Henry Big Boy 41 tomorrow, haven't pulled the trigger on it since last deer season.

I've got a couple of expensive rifles... the Nosler Custom 280 Ackley, almost $5000 in that one when you include optics and mounts.
And another one I've kept quiet about... costs about $8 just to pull the trigger on it, but its got some serious reach.
Both are worth every penny to me...I'm...
As long as the right data (BC, MV, atmosphere, etc.) is put in Applied Ballistics has been close enough that I haven't noticed any variance.
It should be noted though... I'm not shooting paper, but mostly coyotes, groundhogs, and deer... and some steel.

Tough choice....I know the creed is all the rage and certainly a fine round.
I've considered one in 243 myself.
I really like my Henry 41 mag carbine, an excellent little rifle in a regards.

With 160 Accubonds, my max load of RL 26 is 59.5 grains...
With 168 Accubond LR bullets, its 58.5 grains.
So I'd say 56 grains would give you a safe start.

Here where an ornery black bear or 2 legged varmint is the worst one can expect...my Glock 32 will suffice for most situations.
That said... if I were to pack a rifle, it'd be my Henry 41 mag carbine wearing the Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20.
Short, quick, and plenty of power for anything around here...
I might know a little about lead.... but I have zero experience with steel shot.
Despite always having an excellent place to do it.... the bug for waterfowl hunting never bit me, and that's the only thing that requires steel shot here (TN).

On the 7-300... you could take a file to the front of that base and give it some more room....its also too close in my opinion.... knocking that edge down 30 to 50 thousandths wouldn't hurt the base at all as far as function goes.

I think the 7-08 is too close for sure.
Did you lap the rings? Doing so often means more contact area between the rings and scope, which means more grip on it.

.005" might be a little close.... scopes flex under recoil.
I prefer enough room to easily get a cover over the scope.
Also, I use purple loctite on scope bases.
As for Dicks Sporting Goods....
I stopped going there several years ago, I went in to buy some 223 ammo and they put it in a plastic lock box and handed it to me to carry up front to check out.
Somewhat bewildered, I asked what the box was about.
He informed me it was to keep me from...
Sort of to Guy's point...
The big reason for the decline of hunting is that its getting priced out of reach in more ways than one, but mainly the price of hunting leases.
You just can't get permission to hunt anymore without paying for it... and paying a lot.
That's the main reason I've...
Excellent brass on the right.... junk on the left... both Nosler branded brass.
Notice the headstamps are different, and the pic doesn't show it....but the brass alloy is different too.

I didn't post any... I'm not home to take any or I would post some though.
I'll be home the middle of next week sometime, I can then if I remember.

Also...to be clear... I'm not sure when that brass was made....I bought it at Cabelas in Bristol, VA quite a while back (at least a year ago, maybe longer).
