Anyone ever seen this? 2 different boxes of 25 cal. 115 grain Ballistic Tips that have completely different measurements and look other than weight and greatest diameter. This new box seems to have a much slower taper, thus pushing the ogive forward and giving me a shorter oal by about .026"...
I would think a couple cotton sheets would be fine, and a whole lot lighter. All game bags are for is keeping the bugs and dirt off. I use the hd cotton/canvas game bags but that just because the cheesecloth ones still let crap through, and they're reusable so many times. That and they're the...
Just so happens I had the magneto speed on the rifle when I took that first shot Guy. 3063 fps. at 47.5 grains, which interestingly enough is exactly 100 fps. faster than my 48.5 grain average out of a a 20" barrel. Sucker still hit dead on though.
I'm getting the feeling that this rifle isn't...
Thanks guys. At least now I know I'm not going crazy. Now to get a consistent load with this lot. It's all over the place now...

How much variance do you guys see between lots of the same type powder usually?
I ask because I just started a new lot of RL22 for my .257 Roberts. I loaded one round a full grain lighter than I had been on the previous, 47.5 vs. 48.5, to work back up and I could barely get the bolt open and...
Big shout out to Doc for this one. Looks like this load should do just fine.
Super stoked with this rifle. With the super long throat and mag on it I'm able to load a full .2" over listed MAX COAL. I had Doc run the #'s for me again in a PM with the new length to verify the no pressure...
Hey guys. As usual I've been lurking and not posting for quite a while. I was hoping someone may be able to run some numbers for me on a new to me rifle I'm working a load up for. It's a sweet little Venezuelan Mauser I picked up for a song and will be my go to for the mountains if I can get a...
Hoping for the draw to come through so I can get my wife on her first caribou this fall. Also want all the other goat/sheep/moose/bison tags I put in for myself to come through as well......but we'll see. If not it'll just be bear/moose around the house for me and maybe a trip for blacktail to...
Being in AK I learned early on that if I see something available that I may need I better buy it. Especially with powder since no one will ship it here. It's gotten better over the last year but it's still spotty. I practice with what I hunt with though, and with my new range right in the back...
Dehack, for smoke I use an Amazen Pellet Smoker. It's a nice little gadget that'll produce smoke for up to 11 hours. A quick Google search will bring up the website. I do also use a single propane burner for heat when I want it. I'm travelling at the moment but once I get back home I can upload...
Oh and don't worry too much about measuring the actual volume of water you add to the canner. Do the 1/2-2/3 up the sides of the jars and keep your pressure correct/consistent and you won't have any problems running out of water in it again.

Thank you for the compliments Jim. It's an All American canner and the biggest one, 41.5 quart, that they make. It weighs roughly 25lbs. empty and will last a lot longer than I will. Like I said above its a sizable investment but if canning is something that you want to get into more often than...
The condensing down of the meat is fairly normal. Though next time when you pack the meat into the jars really PACK it in. Try to get all of the air out, a small spatula or plastic knife run around the edges will help immensely in this. You never want to let the canner run out of water in the...
30-06 with 180gr Accubond factory load @ 146yds. Clean pass through the ribs with a .308 entry and about a quarter size exit. Went roughly 15 feet and had to think about it for about 10 seconds, then toppled over backwards. I've started to experiment lately but so far Accubonds have killed...
