Some years ago I scooped up 6mm 100 gr and .30 cal 165's - all solid base seconds. They shot great from the 6mm Rem and the 30-06. My son took some game with them, deer & bear. The bullets did well.
Interesting stories about the original Ballistic Tip bullets not opening up. Usually I hear...
Ummm.... Got antlers? ;)
Great looking barn! Around here folks would likely call it a shop. Either way it looks like you did a mighty fine job. I'm a bit envious...

I just saw that - the part in bold attracted my attention.
Neck tension alone should grasp the bullet firmly, even without a crimp.
I think something is wrong with the neck sizing. It's not tight enough. Could be a die issue or it could be a brass issue...
Try adjusting the die, and...
Only adverse thing I ever encountered doing that was the build up of a "crud ring" in the chambers - if I was lazy about cleaning. One good cleaning and there'd be no crud ring.
Shooting 38's from a 357 is a really common thing and I don't know of any harm that comes from it.

Jim - I think the Rem 700's in 257 Roberts were short-action rifles, like my 6mm Remington. It can be difficult to load to the proper length.
OP - I suggest going to a shorter, flat-base bullet. Perhaps the Nosler Partition would work? I don't have one on hand to measure.

The 130 TTSX can shoot for sure. This was at nearly 3,300 fps from a Savage 30-06 with a factory barrel at 100 yards:
I've seen similar accuracy from 308's... So, keep trying with your rifle, be it 308 or 30-06, as that bullet has excellent accuracy potential.

Interesting. The only rifle I used that did such a thing badly needed proper bedding. It was a 308 Win with a varmint weight barrel in an injection molded stock.
That rifle would put the cold bore about 1.5" high, the second shot about an inch high, then cluster the rest in a tight group where...
When the 8mm Rem Mag was introduced I had a 6mm Rem... Thought it would be pretty cool to have Remington 700's in 6mm Rem, 7mm Rem Mag and 8mm Rem Mag... :) Still think that would be cool.
Best of luck with the rifle Fotis!

The Co-Ax offers an advantage of both the case head and the sizing & seating dies being able to "float" just a bit, theoretically producing "straighter" ammunition for better accuracy.
I do know that I used the Co-Ax press and a set of Forster "honed" dies to build the most accurate ammo I've...
Your rifle has a 30" barrel? Goodness! I had a match rifle that used 30" barrels...
I started using the 165's and 168's in the 308 many years ago because I was issued 168 gr ammo for duty. It was very accurate and I wanted practice and hunting ammo that had the same velocity, bullet weight and...
Years ago, when the 300 RUM was new, I had one and loaded the 200 gr Accubond over a stout charge of Retumbo for about 3,000 fps as I recall. It was a popular load at the time and an excellent one.

I've got more than enough Nosler bullets, mostly purchased through Shooter's Pro Shop as seconds, to keep shooting the rest of my life... :)
Primers and powder, I'm not so comfortable with my supply, but it's not bad.

Dang, most of my meals in Alaska have been in a tent or a remote fishing lodge... I come up with nothing for recommendations. Dang!
Kinda liked Fast Eddies in Tok.
Liked a hole-in-the-wall place in Cordova for breakfast but they got busted for drugs and shut down.
The Reluctant Fisherman...
Sierra's TGK has a pretty stout jacket, no doubt.
Nosler's Accubond is already a classic. I remember when it was introduced... It was supposed to perform similarly to a Nosler Partition on game but with a higher BC because of the tip and the boattail. In my limited experience, it's done a fine...
