Most of my rigs are set-up for cross-over uses...Hunting and shooting, with a good number being able to shoot distance.
Good glass and reliable turrets are key for me.
For steel, I am pretty comfortable with the max magnification being in the 14-16 range.
It kind of depends what I am trying to...
The ELD-M has replaced the A-Max.
There are some A-Max's being produced in different weights/calibers, but by in large, the ELD-M has replaced the A-Max.
The 75 grain ELD-M is available!
I use ELD-M's a lot in in .224, .244, .257, .264.
I also use them a good amount of time in 7mm and 30 caliber
The majority of the time, the NBT and the AB are going to exit on antelope, unless the distance is really far.
I have used a couple of AB's for antelope. 140 grain and 162 grain 7mm AB out of a 17" XP-100 and in a rifle 24-26" rifle.
Both were chambered in 280AI. With the XP and 140's I was...
If I did more fixed distance shooting, I would be using something like this or Shot Marker, and systems like it.

You don't know until you try it...

It is a great performance level for what I like to do at times.
In terms of cartridge names, I could care less.
I am looking for a performance level, whether it is popular or not, that also has good...
I took my 7 mm Dakota XP to South Africa, and use the 180 grain Berger hybrid. I wasn’t real impressed with it. I have moved away from using a Berger on game. I know a lot of people use them in our satisfied, but for me, it just has too many inconsistencies.
I found out also to be true In...
With the 180 grain Berger at only 2775 fps with 4634 feet elevation, has an impact velocity at 800 yards of 1927 fps
A 175 grain ELD-X at 2900 fps (Very same DA) as above has an impact velocity of 2013 fps at 800 yards
Throat life (what we typically call barrel life) is NOT dependent on barrel length.
The life of the throat and the beginning of the rifling of a barrel, will be dependent upon several things, but barrel length is not one of them.
You already have had both the 7mm PRC and the 28 Nosler in...
