    GREAT FALLS, MONTANA

Looks like I am heading down to Malmstrom AFB, Montana. Some of you guys know where I am heading since a few of you are or were military. It is situated in Great Falls, and so far, I know nothing about Montana except that there's deer, elk and some other critters to hunt for down there. Some of...

7mm rem mag and RL 22

Swampbuck, looks like everyone wants you to use Partitions, Accubonds, and everything but what you asked for. I use RL-22 for the 7 mag and a 7 Wby I have and they both love it for about all bullets. For the 150 BT, try 74.0 grains of the RL-22. With the 160 Accubond, (caribou load), I use 72...

When is a bonded bullet really needed???

Hey guys. I just got back from San Antonio where I went on one of those exotic day hunts on a big old ranch. Basically, I shot an Axis doe for the meat, and the experience of it. I am a little short of money, and couldn't spend what it would take to kill a buck of that species. They run about...

Custom Interarms Mark X Mauser 30-06 WOES

Thanks for the replies guys. The gunsmith I mentioned previously is the one who installd the Talley bases and we checked those. Very tight still. we are now thinking that the scope has crapped out. There is no reticle movement when adjusted to full windage both left and right. does same when...

Custom Interarms Mark X Mauser 30-06 WOES

Fellows, I have a serious question for you. This happened to my buddy yesterday while shooting. He has a custom interarms 30-06 built here in town by a GOOD local smithy in 2002. We switched scopes around Saturday from a Kahles on this rifle, to a Leupold Vari-X III, 1.75-6. Talley Premier...

    358 Winchester....bullet selection ?

it's a shame Nosler don't make a 200 Grain accubond ain't it? that would be a great bullet and would really wake up the 358...hell, we have a 338 Federal, there shouldn't be anyone left in the industry ANYWHERE that really thinks that the 358 can't be a strong market performer in the bullet line...

    358 Winchester....bullet selection ?

I agree with the Partition, but the 200's also are great bullets for the 358, and will kill anything in the lower 48, Canada, and MOST game here in Alaska. The only thing I wouldn't tackle up here would be a big brown bear with that combo. Yeah, I bet we could argue all day about how well it...

Can ANYONE actually throw out an opinion here???? Scared??

I sure appreciate the post. I didn't know anyone would still read this mess. I sort of sold my Kimber because I needed to pay some debts off, but the Glock is one i had wanted to try for a long time. There are so many 1911's, and Glocks on the market, I will definitely own another 1911. unless...

    40 S&W/165 Speer Gold Dot Loads-4 Inch Glock 23

Could someone with a newer Speer book look me up some data? I need to know what the loads are if possible for the 165 Gold Dot, with Power Pistol powder. If that powder isn't listed, just give me the slower side of the chart in burn rate. I would like to get into the 1150 FPS range with this...

    Flashlight anyone?

HA! I found this just now while fooling around and searching for neat stuff to read. I just have to add to this post. I have become a flashlight freak and crazy about having light. Cutthroat might not even have one on me except how he carries his lights. I don't carry that many, but I am...

Reloading brass for factory glock barrel?

Calvin, I'm sorry I but I just found your post and questions. I have a Glock 23, which of course is the 40 S&W. i hadn't even planned to load for it because ammo is generally cheap, but here in Alaska, cheap ammo, is sort of a misnomer...meaning they kill the good prices with freight charges...

    .280 Load Question

Hey TN, I had a Browning A-bolt 1, 280 a few years back, and my load of choice was also 57.0 Grs of RL-19. My rifle had a 22 inch barrel, and like you, I was disappointed in the speed. BUT, the group size was worth the trade-off for me. The bad news for you is that for these 280 loads in the...

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

Yeah Powerstroke, it's dry enough in my house here in Anchorage that I have to be careful of static electricity. The powder many times won't even shake back out of the RCBS powder measure tube. You know, sometimes you just don't feel like fooling with stick powders for small neck cases like the...

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

I have heard that all of their powders are spherical, or ball, and no stick...anybody know if this is true?

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

Powerstroke, thanks to you foer the VIT info. I need to try some of that stuff. I had heard from some folks I know back in Virginia that shoots in the submachine gun matches and he said it was the cleanest powder going. also, that in these matches, he is about the only guy that don't have to...

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

stroke, I know what you mean by "just to say you got one". I have been in the Air Force for almost 18 years and I am like a 12 year old boy every time I have to go through the yearly course and fire for record. as for pressures, yu will get the flatter, or flattened primers for sure, plus they...

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

Powerstroke, I agree with you on this, a clean powder is paramount to having dependability. I wouldn't bother using 748 if it wasn't so accurate. But I do a lot more hunting with mine, than just shooting. since I clean frequently, I don't have to worry too much about the dirt.

    Handloads for a Bushmaster (308 and 223)

Sir, I am gonna chime in here because I would like to see you having a good time with your rifles. I also have a Bushmaster in 223 or 5.56, whatever. All that mumbo jumbo about not using reloaded ammo is nothing but lawyer speak ok. you really think Kimber, colt, Bushmaster, and 40 other...

    375 H&H 285 GRAND SLAM DATA

Right now I am loading 285 Grand Slams, 79.0 Gr's of IMR 4350. Great load. I have been trying though to get 270 Barnes XLC's to shoot in it to my disappointment. I have tried a complete list of loads in it but my Remington just doesn't seem to like the Barnes. Are any of you using Barnes...
