Load data went up in smoke during divorce.. need help

". anyway, I am happier without her, and time to get back to what I love - reloading for my toys.." Can you imagine how many guns you could buy if you didn't need women? But then you wouldn't have any grandkids to spoil!

    First sighting of RL33

I use RL-25 in my 300 Wby with 180 AB's at 3250 with 87 grains and great accuracy. It would be good if it's better than 25, maybe with the 200 AB?

    Going over the book limits

That was my thinking for years, but now with better and more available testing equipment, I don't know! Some claim you may be way over pressure with no signs. I do believe the 280 and 30-06 should be safe at pressures above SAMMI standards, at least as high as the 270 winchester. The bolt lugs...

Houston we have a problem.....seperation iminent

I also have made a tool from acet welding rod by grinding a point on one end and bending it in a tight 90 degree then give it the length of my hand with another bend. The tool is used to reach all the way inside the case and applying pressure to the point, then drag it all the way to the neck...

    Win 760?

I've used 760 for years in the 30-06 with 150 grain Ballistic Tips, it shoots really well in more than 1 rifle. Just don't load a compacted load as ball powders are said not to be stable when compacted. I get 2900-3000 fps with the 150, depending on the rifle and it just seems like a sweet load...

    270 Win Finally !

I don't know what I"ll do with the 270 yet, but it will be there when needed. I have a couple granddaughters that may want it. I'll get it zero'd all the way in when the weather cools off and may use it for mule deer this year.

    270 Win Finally !

Well I finally figured out why my 270 shot so well with 140 BT and 7828 then went away! A guy had loaned me a baggy of 140's to try and like magic they shot tiny little groups. I put the gun away for a year or so, happy with the results, but when I decided it was time to get it out, it shot like...

    180gr Accubond in 300wm

This is what I expect from my 300 Win with 75 gr RL-22 from a good 100 yard bench rest! This load chronographed at 3025 fps at 65 degrees F. Just a fully bedded Model 700 Remington. I sure wish they would make the Reloader powders temperature in-sensitive.

    shooting bench designs

When building a bench for testing the absolute accuracy of a rifle you must have a very stable platform that does not move! You need a portable bench with three legs so it can easily fit the environment, not all ground is level! The top needs to be sturdy, mine uses 2 layers of 3/4 inch plywood...

    Always Take A Spare

When working up a new rifle or load I will now always take a spare rifle with me! I have busted my butt with a model 700 .270 for way too long and it was causing me to doubt everything I've ever learned about rifles! I changed scopes twice, changed loads with everything imaginable, changed my...

7mm Remington Mag and 150 gr Partition

Back when I used the 7 mag a lot I used the H870 and 175 grainers with good luck, but when IMR 7828 came out I used a generous amount to get great groups and 2960 fps the with 175 Hornady. More than a few elk bit the dust with this one! Why did I ever stop using the 7??? Maybe I'll visit it again

    270 Winchester

Thanks all, I chrongraphed all the loads listed at the same time and the 4350 seemed a little high, the 4831 right on and the RL-22 a little slow. Oehler 35 at 60 degrees F. The H-4831SC is the extreme stuff and is a wierd green-brown color, is that normal? All of my H-4831 from years past was...

    270 Winchester

I would like to see at least 3000 and under 1 m.o.a., but this gun is really finicky. I can't see settling for for over an inch at 100 yds with a 270!

    270 Winchester

What would you do? I want a good 130 grain BT load and came up with the best group so far with 59 grains of RL-22. The problem is it chrono's only 2977 fps with a 22 inch barrel, no pressure signs, but this is over Nosler's maximum listed load. IMR-4350 went 3065 fps(55 gr.), H-4831 went 3045...

    RL25 in a 270 Winchester

Thanks DrMike, I might just try increasing that rl22 a little at a time as my load showed no pressure.

    RL25 in a 270 Winchester

I can say I am really disappointed in the results! 2689-2699 fps with a 150 grain bullet. Pressure was mild, accuracy was good (about 1") and it was within 10 fps on all shots. I just can't live with that slow speed! (I never went over 59 grains- maybe more powder would have worked, but I...

    340 Bee loads?

My load was : 88 grains of IMR7828 / resized 8mm Mag brass (RP)/ cci250 primers/ Hornady 225 Interlock. Shot well under an inch with all loads, but this one went 3100 plus. Mine was just like yours and I always wanted to master the recoil, I had lots of forehead marks from the scope! Be sure to...

My new Elk Thumper 340 Bee

I just noticed this post and opened it to find a picture of a gun I used to own! It was a real shooter in both accuracy and speed, just kicked like a mule. My loads were 200 bt at 3200 with IMR4350 and the 225 Hornady Interlock at 3125 with IMR7828. The brass I used was made by running 8mm Rem...

    .300 weatherby 180 accubond - long range

I don't normally shoot past 400 yards, but my 300 Wby load shoots under M.O.A. at 3200+ with the 180 AB. RL-25, Remington brass, CCI250 primers, 26 inch barrel. For targets I would use a 6.5-284 to keep from burning up tons of powder with gobs of recoil that the 300 Wby gives. For elk, my load...

    Ruger All American

I have the spendy good looking guns in my safe and love them, but this new Ruger is 6 lb 3 oz, a rotary magazine that doesn't stick out the bottom, a 70 degree bolt lift and shoots great! The new bedding in this beats the crap out of the old 77 angled screw system with the barrel being pushed on...
