April,
There may not be a ton of action on this thread but there has been a lot going on behind the curtain. :>)
Just happened to get some very good suggestions from the Rodeo Rider himself and a few others have been very helpful including the young lady who has not made it back to tahiti...
It's really getting weird. How many times are we on the same thought process. Started reading up on this last night and had the same basic questions. Maybe TC-hawkingfool was right?
Will the sporter handle a big barrel like a # 6?
My thoughts are to keep this rifle strictly a D.G. rifle and develop the load in the same type of weather that is found in Africa at the time I would go and the area I would hunt. If I decide to hunt something different in a different climate I would alter the load for that purpose. If that is...
The shooting from helicopter idea was not intended for hunters, just a quick way of killing them. Which, was my point...............if shooting was the answer why not let them be hunted/harvested instead of eliminated for the sole purpose of killing. Then I remember who is doing the...
Just read an article about how mountain goats in Olympic National park are threatening humans. One has even killed a hiker. Lots of talk about how the Park service is discussing ways to correct this problem. It has not been decided but, shooting them from helicopters is one of the ideas...
That's pretty good timing for getting one down and done. Hard to beat elk for dinner fare!
I was grinning hearing you speak of your son helping. My youngest is 18 now and is 6'2" and hits the scales at 225 or so. He played defensive end but, should have played middle linebacker with his...
Scotty,
I've got it on very solid advice that IMR-4831 is the go-to powder. I suppose mostly cuz it works and also has been proven in hot climates. How do you suppose RL17 is in hot weather and it's sensitivity to temperature?
Hey Jamila,
Something to think about,
It's not the money in one's checking account or the amount of stuff you own, it is what is in your heart and the deeds you do that matter. Plenty of good folks at all levels of life and plenty of trash too. You can truly see what is in one's heart by...
It h as been difficult to find any data for this so if any would provide any data I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.
Considering the following powders;
H4831SC
IMR-4831
404. Jeffery
400 grain NF S.P. & solid
24" barrel
modern M70 magnum action
My scope was returned from Swarovski, according to them it had been adjusted too far in elevation and that over time it the spring had weakened. I did not remember it being adjusted that far so after mounting it back on the 300 wby yesterday I took a few shots without any adjustments to the...
I wish that when one of these young people rattled off all the things they want someone else to provide them they were then asked what was it they intended to give up? What was it they intended to provide? What tangible item would they contribute?
I'm pretty sure they would have a very...
Heard this on the radio the other morning where college students were asked what they thought about socialism and if they thought it a good or bad thing.
Everyone of them answered in a very similar fashion. Basically they were all for it because it meant "fairness" and they also thought that...
Guy,
Only you can answer this this one.......?
If you have any good memories of hunts with other rifles then you are parting with some of that too. Like most of us I come from a family that were made of hunters and remember the stories from family members that go with certain rifles. Each...
