Which Powder for the 260 Rem and 130 Accubond?

I am using H4831sc at 48 grains with 130 accubond gives me 3/4" groups in my M700 Mountain Rifle 22" tube at a hair under 2800 fps. Make sure to work up to this load it is at max or just a little over because I get a little flattening of the primers.

    Sako 85 extractor??

I took it to the gunsmith and took off the scope and ran it through its paces. He says rifle ejects terrific without the scope so I need to go to atleas leupold medium rings probably high rings would be the best with the zeiss scope which has a little bit bigger adjustment projections. Might...

    300 WIN

I just bought a new Winchester FN 70 Sporter in 300 Win. Just wanted to know a couple things. 1. If you could only have a couple of powders for the 300 win mag which ones would it be? Probably for 165, 180 and 200's as the most common bullet weights. 2. Anybody got a pet load for the 300...

    Sako 85 extractor??

Has anyone had any issues with their sako 85 empties hitting the scope and falling back in? I had warne mounts and noticed it once or twice in about 30 rounds get a double round feed jam thought it was me slow and short cycling the bolt on the bench to be easy on my brass didn't give it much...

    Remington 700 "J" lock?

I had one on my .260 700 LSS Mtn Rifle. I bought a tubbs speed lock firing pin and spring and a factory replacement assembly and had a gunsmith put it in for me. I think on Brownells the replacement assembly is $50, it cost me $35 to have it installed. He would have done it for nothing but...

    lee factory crimp dies

I was considering using them because of the long throat in my sako 30-06 and I am getting some damage to the bullets in the drop magazine under recoil. Only comes into play when hunting, at the range I only have one in at a time. I just feel like I might be getting some movement on the OAL...

    lee factory crimp dies

I was going to try to crimp some of my 30-06 hunting rounds. Had a question how do you setup your lee die to provide a consistant crimp from one loading session to the next since it doesn't have a set screw, etc. or does it matter if you do the exact same crimp from session to session as long...

more ??'s on bedding rem 700

I don't think I would wait until tomorrow. I popped mine apart at the 5 hour mark and cleaned up all the excess and then put it back together for the rest of the 24 hours. This allows you to correct any mistakes you can't see before everything gets rock hard.

    Damn you 30-06

I think you guys have helped and the answer is definately BOTH!! I think a Mark V in .257 Weatherby and a 300 Win in a Model 70 now just which one will be first depends on the deal I can get I suppose. I have to admit I might impulse buy a Model 70 in 270wsm if the mood strikes me in...

    Damn you 30-06

I forgot to mention I do have a rock river m4 as well. I am with you on the 7mm bullet I would prefer the 280 or 7mag to the .270 but neither are available in the model 70 which I really like and is why I was considering the 7mm-08 originally. If I bought the 270 I would probably end up...

    Damn you 30-06

I have been wanting a new toy, I think I have it narrowed down to a new Model 70. Been trying to pick the new caliber and had narrowed it (albeit not very far) to 7mm-08, 270win, 270wsm, 308 and 300 win. I have been looking over all the ballistics and it seems my 30-06 will do almost as well...

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

It is a 260 remington, one I assume you are a fan of. I am not done yet I think it can get better, I think the 48 grain load will be better and I still have to do some experimenting with the COL once I pinpoint the charge. What I have been encouraged about most is it seems to be more...

    Sako Bedding Block

Has anyone glass bedded their sako 85 with the new style bedding block? I was looking at it and seems to me it would make a lot of sense just to bed the steel plate up front into the stock permanently. Then maybe bedding the rest of the action in a seperate operation? You could do it in one...

Working up Load for New Rifle

How many rounds would you put through the barrel before considering it settled down enough to work up a load that will remain consistant.

    Free Floating 700 Mtn

Went to the range this weekend. I did a thorough cleaning including some JB and fired a couple of fouling shots and this was the first group down the tube. I had another set to shoot at 48 grains which I suspect will be the better load and had a accubond tip break completely off in the...

    Warne Rings Sako 85

The warne are one piece base and rings and were put on with blue locktite and still came loose. I think they have a square dovetail fitting on a sako tapered dovetail. The receiver dovetail has unequal sides getting larger at the front to tighten under recoil whereas most bases are square...

    Warne Rings Sako 85

I read somewhere that Warne had discontinued their sako mounts because the 85's receiver rail dimension changed. I called Warne today and they confirmed they do not offer mounts for the 85 anymore. He said some fit fine and others would never lock up right (always affected the rear base). He...

    Warne Rings Sako 85

I put some warne rings on my Sako 85 and used the warne torque wrench on the bases and rings. I have noticed my groups haven't been that great and suspected the scope mount. I took a screwdriver with the star point and checked the tightness of the ring screws. They seemed really loose to me...
