Got 4 of the VX-6's now. One is on my favorite rifle, my 264WM. It has been dialed up and down and is working fine for it. I have 3 of the 3-18x models, two 3-18x44's on a 243 and 25-06 and the 3-18x50 on the 264. All have the TMOA reticle and CDS. I have a 1-6x CDS also that came with a...
I have an M1A scout that shoots amazingly well with it's 1.25-4x Leupold scout scope. It will put Federal Gold Medal 168gr Sierra ammo into 3/4" groups, or Freedom Munitions 168gr Sierra matchkings into 1". With the scope, trigger, and me shooting it I'm impressed. It's a fairly heavy rifle...
85gr Sierra HPBT gameking or 87gr Berger VLD if you will stick to only broadside shots

Always be able to see the downwind side. If it's possible put a 2nd shooter a couple hundred yards downwind of the call.
Sometimes an electronic call can be positioned in a crosswind so that the coyote can come in straight downwind of the call while you are 100-150yds further out where your...
Personally I'd probably build a stainless M70 in 375 Ruger. I'd go with a 22" barrel with back-up iron sights. Maybe irons with tritium inserts if I could find them. I'd put it in a good synthetic stock, not a real ultralight one but something along the lines of a B&C Alaskan. Reasonable...
I have one brake on a rifle. It's the Rifles Inc built M70 Winchester in 300WM. It weighs 7lbs 4oz with the scope and mounts. I wouldn't want to shoot it without the brake, with it there is no issue. Recoil is less than my light 270, probably similar to my 10.5lb 264 win mag or 9.5lb 25-06...
Yes they reflect light but maybe not from as many angles as a yote or deer. Maybe their eyes don't protrude quite as much or something. We see them regularly when catfishing the creeks and rivers at night.
Had the 25-06 yesterday when I saw one, he didn't get away! The 100gr Sirocco is surprisingly fur friendly.
Vince I had to let the salesmen in the truck, they called Dad and he invited them!
I bet the 45-70 lets a coyote know he is hit. Kinda like a semi truck would.
Good advice from everyone. I didn't specify but definitely agree with the 3" #4 buckshot. That's what I use in the coyote shotgun. It is well worth patterning the shotgun though, I patterned a few with different brand coyote branded chokes meant for buckshot. I found that most combinations...
I'd expect the VLD not to expand to dramatically unless you get an angle where it has a lot of penetrating to do. Really though most shots you will only see their head unless they come out of the water so it won't matter. The best way to eliminate them is traps, but if you knock a hole in...
My team was lucky yesterday and won the coyote calling contest we entered. It wasn't a huge one, it was a benefit for the counties 4-H shooting sports program. Great cause to support and a fun way to do it.
We called in 11 coyotes total, with 5 in one group and most of the others in pairs...
Thanks Guy.
I had a couple feed salesman show up this morning that wanted to ride along to feed cows with me. As it always works after I took the rifle out to fit them in the truck I had a coyote watch me for several minutes at 150yds. Happens every time the gun stays at home!
Yeah that's for sure. We are good now, just need yotes to cooperate, thanks for the well wishes! I'll let you all know how it turns out.
My partner called today and wants me to bring him a rifle just in case. His 243 wasn't shooting like he wanted so he is giving it a good cleaning. I...
I had a mystery solved for me recently, you are all probably smarter than me and have this figured out but I thought I'd share it.
I had hit several coyotes high and missed a few shots at smaller critters with my AR rifles, kinda had me turned off on them for a while. I just seemed to shoot...
