I've taken a ton of game with Accubonds in several rifles. I really like that bullet. I just tried the Scirocco because it showed a significant BC advantage over the Accubond. I used the 140 Accubond for quite a while in my 264 win mag, still do sometimes. I was only running it 3k fps. I...
Very happy with the first test of the 130gr Swift Scirocco bullet. I filled my antlerless whitetail tag on a doe tonight at just under 300 yards. I took her through the shoulders on purpose. I usually avoid bone on antlerless tags, but I really wanted to see how this bullet is going to hold...
Well I tried some other factory ammo. Accuracy was excellent, speeds are still slow. I checked my chronograph with another rifle I know the velocity on to verify it is accurate. It was reading right.
Fiocchi factory 130gr Swift Scirocco ammunition
Avg 2622fps for 3 shots, 4.7fps SD. Shot 3...
Thanks everyone for the replies.
Well the Creed has a coyote under it's belt now, and I finished a wounded buck for another hunter at 330 yards. I'm going to do a little more experimenting with bullets after deer season is over. I loaned it to a buddy whose 7 mag has a 30 year old Tasco...
The rifle likes the ELD-X pretty well. Groups are all sub MOA so far even with cleaning every shot to every 3 shots. The best are around a half, probably average right about 3/4". The chronograph was a little disappointing, 2525fps was the average for the 3 shots with it attached...
Thanks everyone. I'll give the ELD-X a shot and see how it shoots, go from there. The 140 Accubond I know is a great bullet from using it in my 264 win mag, I'm just hoping to use a more reasonably priced factory load for now. If I need to I will handload Accubonds or try the ELD-M or a 130r...
I traded a rifle in and brought home a Browning Hells Canyon Speed rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. I should have Talley Rings in the next couple days, and plan to steal the SWFA 3-15x42mm scope off my 25-06 for now. I'll end up with a 4-16x42 Huskemaw on it down the road I think.
I will use this...
I use a 264 win mag on them most years, just a 260 with more horsepower.
With your set-up you will be fine. Be prepared to shoot in wind, KS has a lot of it.
Find a way to shoot steady from positions taller than prone. I bet GB had a lot of rain this summer to grow more than average...
CO 2nd season last second muley. 153.5" gross, 26" wide. 185gr Berger Classic Hunter at 216 yards from my 300 win mag. It did the job, but I still like the way my E tips or Accubonds perform better.
Thanks, I will be hunting up there next year about this time. Congrats on the caribou.
I'm looking at using my Simms G3 wading boots and Chota Tundra Hippie waders for the tundra. I don't think I can get by with the lack of ankle support in hip boots or a Muck type boot. Definitely taking...
Think they will deliver enough shock to anchor a coyote? I like the E tips and shot 180's out of my 300 win mag last year. I saw a whitetail run about 120 yards before dropping shot through the lungs with my rifle. The bullet did as it's designed to judging by the entrance and exit wounds...
I sure wish Sierra would stick a plastic tip on the old 85gr Gameking HPBT and leave the rest the same. That bullet is pretty hard to beat as an all around 243 bullet but the BC is pretty low for it's weight. I think some of the 70gr bullets with a tip have a better BC than that one. Sure...
I would also use the 90gr Accubond in that rifle. It performs very well in my experience.
On broadside shots the 85gr Sierra Gameking has worked very well for me also. It's not a super tough bullet but I have broke shoulders and still got through the vitals with it at mid range (150-250...
Yeah I used to load for everything. As time gets harder to come by than a few extra dollars I have been shooting more factory ammo if I can find a load I am happy with. I load for my 25-06 and 264 win mags all the time. My 25-06 shot factory ammo well, but none of the 100 grain loads I tried...
Not a bad plan at all, might have to try that. The only issue may be that I bought the factory E tip Nosler load instead of loading for the moose hunt, and then they shot so well I stuck with them. I'll have to slow the others down from my old handload to match the velocity of the E tip and do...
I have to much time spent on a horse or tractor discussing stuff with myself. Sometimes I get advice from my horse or heeler dog. They are good listeners.
