    7 mm Express (280 Remington)

Thanks for all the input. Indeed, I do have a great cousin. He and I have hunted together for many years. He is aging now (in his 80's) and has a tremendous collection of firearms having collected for many, many years. He is WAY TOO generous but that is the way he is. He also gave a...

    7 mm Express (280 Remington)

My cousin is downsizing his gun room (big collection) and asked if I would like a Remington 700 in 7 mm Express (280 Remington). Certainly I said "yes" cause you can never have enough guns. Right? (my wife woud argue that point) What's your take on this caliber? I've read that it...

    cleaning rod/brush problem

I would check the threads inside the cleaning rod to make sure they are indeed 8-32. From what you are describing, it sounds like either the accessory tip threads are not the correct thread size of the rod threads are not. You might try screwing in something that is KNOWN to be the correct...

    Cases

Has anyone ever done a study to determine what portion of a case "stretches" most when firing? (For example is it that neck, shoulder body or the base?) I would assume that the case would stretch in the area where the metal is the thinnest but that may NOT necessarily be true. Anyone have...

    I made a rookie mistake

Well gents, thanks for all the input. Guess being "old" (I'm 73), ones looses site of his surroundings and posessions. After reading all the case removal remedies, I got to thinking, "I've been here before". You guessed it, this was not my FIRST stuck case as I recalled having made a case...

    I made a rookie mistake

I've been carefully and religiously reloading for a number of years. Today, I made a rookie mistake by getting a case stuck in the re-sizing die. How did I do that? Well, I inadvertently grabbed the wrong shell holder, lubed the case, put the lubed brass in the holder and bottomed the case...

    Full length resizing

OK, most of us agree that full length re-sizing is needed when using brass from other than the rifle the spent brass had been fired in. I trim to length all such cases but got to wondering what the "min-max" tolerance is when doing the triming. For example: The book calls for a case length...

    Bullet comparison

This topic has probably been already discussed and debated. I have been wondering what are the specific differences other than price, between Ballistic Tips and Acubonds? (comparing the same grain sizes (165, 180, etc.) :?:

    Seating depth measurement

How good is the Sinclair hex style bullet comparator? I read a report saying the one purchased was not accurate. Does anyone have experience with this style guage?

    Annealing brass

I'm curious and wonder: Do you anneal your rifle cartridge cases? How many reloads between annealing? What annealing process do you use (Procedure?)

    How many?

When working up a load, I too use 4 of each recipe. Once I get it nailed down, I'm probably a bit fussy but I weigh every load. The more irregularities I can reduce/eliminate, the better. There are enough issues that come into play when re-loading so get rid of those things you can control...

    300 win 180gr E-Tip

Elkman stated.........., "my favorite load for hunting is 72 gr. of H-4350 with the 180 grain PT." Do you get a lot of powder compression with that load and bullet selection? By seating the bullet .100 off the lands, wouldn't that make it even more compressed? Any chrono tests? I load 71...

    2011 decisions

After some 30 odd years of hunting trips to Colorado and Wyoming, I once again begin sending in my tag applications. Wyoming has been my favorite and will continue with applications being sent for antelope, mule deer and elk. Thus far I have been successful drawing and filling those tags so "If...

    Winchester Primers

I see a lot of primers mentioned in various threads but seldom see much about Winchester primers and in particular the WLR variety. Is there something that should be common knowledge about these particular primers that I am missing?
