I've had two 7mm Remington magnums, and have a 28 nosler, and 7mm wsm currently.
My 28 Nosler is pushing 175gr Bergers at 3190.
My 7wsm is shooting 150gr fast! ( I don't want to say how fast).
my past 7mm Rems accuracy loads with 162 to 168gr was always right at 3000 fps. They could go faster...
I agree.
I used to use Devcon 10110 now I'm all MarineTex. I think it's more user friendly, it stays where you put it and it doesn't go bad in a year like Devcon.
I sighted her in at 200 yards.
I think this is terrific for absolutely no load development at all. I guessed at a mid pressure load for Reloder 15. The imr4064 really shot well though. Not one malfunction. Gas setting is on number two.
These dots are 3/4".
Edit, these are pulled 175 smk from...
She's set up and ready for the range tomorrow.
The melonite oxide was still apparent in the chamber and bore, so I used Flitz and JB paste to polish the chamber and JB scrubbed the barrel. After cleaning is looks outstanding in the borescope.

I definitely wouldn't shorten the Mighty RUM. I'd install a Wyatt's extended mag box.
If you are going to neuter a 300 rum just get a 30 Nosler.
I drive a lot of magnum rifles. Almost all have brakes, which is the worst shock for scope fasteners. I've had more than one sheared base screw before I decided to only wear stress free bedded quality one piece bases and lapped scope rings.
If you ever lap a set of scope rings you'll be...
Yeah, I have built a couple all on DPMS gen 1 upper and lowers. My current 6mm CM is 12lb. 3oz. unloaded! That's with a carbon fiber handguard!
It is however a tack driver.
My 300 RUMs absolutely do not have weatherby freebore. I'm seating. 020" off the lands.
Almost all Weatherby cartridges freebore is .375". !!!! I think a couple have .285" or something.
How's your sfar shooting?
My 20" SFAR will be here next week. I loaded the FGMM receipe 175gr SMK 41.7gr imr4064 and gm210m primers for break-in.
My experience with ar10/ lr308 gas guns it will probably take a couple of hundred rounds to break in the barrel and mechanics.
I have been reading...
Just ordered a 20" SFAR. I loaded the (re-engineered) FGMM load. 175gr SMK 41.7gr imr4064 and 210m primers for break-in and sighting in scope.
My experience with lr308/ar10 rifles, it takes a couple of hundred rounds, plenty of lube, and several barrel cleanings to break in the rifle.
We'll...
I feel sorry for the literal millions of new reloaders that started loading because ammo was scooped off of the shelf. They dont know only two years ago primers were $30, Hodgdon 8lb was $210.
I've seen people at the range that I've tried to get into reloading as far back as the Obaummer...
I will suggest cleaning the bolt and bolt lugs really well. Re- lube with Moly grease on all moving parts.
Get the chamber inspected with a borescope for rust. Polish if necessary. Use a small base full length size die If your reloading.
Make sure handguard isn't binding or touching the...
