Not many production rifles. Rem did a couple different runs in 700. In 2002 they did the classic, ran some 700 s in the LS ( laminated stock) model for a year or so. Cooper did some for a while as well as CZ but not a ton around.
It’s a great little cartridge in a rifle and with a 40 grain...
We ve been able to keep 108 s alive at 3350 in a 27” tube with a 6-280AI. 110 MK have went past 3400 FPS in a 30” barreled rifle of same caliber. Don’t think your expansion with MK will be as good though but man they shoot flat!
We ve had more bullet blowups with the 88 Eldm in 22 caliber...

Looks pretty slow burning to me. I d be sure to use a mag primer and might try heavy for caliber bullets to get better performance. Especially in 270 and 06.
I bought a bunch of Jeff’s pull down ball powder 25-30 years ago ($8 a pound then!) and it was slower burning than his advertised rate...
Would someone be kind enough to run a QL prediction with the following components. Wanting to play with some reduced ground squirrel loads in 221 FB. I ve shot them for years in 223 with great accuracy and performance.
Thx in advance.
221 Fireball
24” barrel
40 grain and 50 grain BT
1.875 oal...
7828 shows well in the 240 WB with heavier bullets from 95 grs up... as you mentioned a little slow for the lightweight slugs though. Probably 4350 or similar burn rates would perform best with 70-75 gr bullets.
If you shoot any 100-105 gr bullets might give R26 a look if you can find it...
That’s great accuracy and a potent load! Handle most everything in NA.... might not be the first choice for large bears but with a calm, accurate shooter it d most likely handle that too.
As Dr Mike mentioned you have some room to work up IF you should incline. I load a stout charge of IMR4831...
I ve got a good load of 24 grs of H4895 with a 75 gr Hor hpbt for my 223 but not a lot of H4895 left and I d to keep some of it around.
Would someone mind running me a QL with the following inputs;
223
2.375 oal
75 gr Hor hpbt #2279c
H380 powder
24” barrel
I have about 4 pounds of H380 and I...
Over the years friend had two 30-378 Weatherbys. One took 113 grs of Retumbo with 180 AB and gave 3425 FPS with. 26” barrel. It was definitely a hot load as primer pockets got loose after the 3rd or 4th firing. Other gun ( first one barrel was gone after about 600-700 rounds) would only take 111...
Thanks Dr Mike! Looks like 12-12.5 grs would be ample to send polishing bullet down the bore. I agree that the bullets would most likely tumble and definitely be inaccurate but goal is to smooth bore. Didn’t want to mess up barrel/twist with a long unstableness bullet but Mr Tubbs said it...
Dr Mike... I ve got a unique situation where a QL prediction could be of great help. Here’s short summary. Wanting to use D Tubbs Final Finish bullets in my new 221 Fireball factory barrel. Have had great luck with David’s product in past. Catch is they re only coating the 77 Sierra MK in 224...
Different employees, different Dept or Store Managers, etc. Folks like that ‘think’ they re helping out but really making the shortage problem and hoarding worse.
As far as the re-sellers on Craigs list and other such sites, I ll throw rocks before I put money if their pockets. Hope many...
I m very curious to see more info on any R26 results with heavy bullets in 7/08.
I m.currently shooting 47.2 grs H4350 with 162 AMax and oal of 2.90. Velocity right at 2700-2710 FPS out of 24” barrel. QL showing another 100 + FPS with R26!! I m pretty confident that I can get 49 grs of...
Only problem with big family run profitable businesses is the conglomerates buy them when opportunity arises. Kind of like Les Schwab tire sold out a year or so ago. Younger generations often want the $$$ more than the work/headache. Original Founder 6 feet under and lots of relatives want ‘to...
Only use “H” 4895 unless Hodgdon tells you different.
I ve found with numerous cartridges that right at 70% of max charge of H4895 provides significant recoil reduction AND very good accuracy. ( better than 60% load in my experience)
Good Luck!
