Personally when trying new projectiles my start point is generally 85gr of T7, then work up in 5's till max load (if i ever get their). 90grs of ffg T7 = shade over 100 of RS, so should be perfectly safe. If you have experience with the ML I'd start where you saw results previously and then...
I agree 4350 has never been the best powder in my 7mm rm's. I have been using a lot of the RL22 as of late but prior IMR4831 under the 150 PT or BT was my powder of choice. The imr 7828 would also be a good test, worked well with 160grainers for me. I haven't personally tried H4831sc but I...
Fred, just looking for input at this point, seeing I have never shot the 140AB I wanted to hear others thoughts and experiences. I assume their are many like me who enjoy playing around with loads and try different things. I have never been much of "it ain't broke it, why fix it" kind of guy...
Thanks POP, saw the thread. I haven't heard anything of this nature and stores still have supply with of course no sale for this bullet. No suprise living in Canada though.
I'll be sure to pass on the info to my partner. About time he tried something else any way...
In the 7mm -08 for stock lh's you are limited to these current run models;
Browning Micro
Savage 16FLSS & 16GL
Now if your willing to consider a 270 or something the selection is larger and includes the Rem 700CDL, Browning Abolt's, Ruger MK77. Weatherby makes lh actions in only a few models...
Just rumors at this point.
FWIW the savage is a heck of ML if your wanting to use smokeless. I have played with them a fair bit, you won't be dissappointed.
I really like the encore as well though...just at this point smokeless is not an option in the 209x50.
Pop, are you saying they are not going to be produced soon?? My pard shoots them exclusively in his 280rem, if so I know he'll want to stock up. If not, please explain.
Thanks
I am also not aware of 150gr/.284 Accubond?????????????????
I have owned a number of 3200 elites and a couple of 4200's as well. Great scope for the money. To be honest haved noticed much of difference between the rainguard vs non rainguard models...my thought is marketing ploy. However this does discount the return on the investment of this scope...
Thanks guys for the response.
Reloader 28, would you still suggest a 140 ab if the loads is obtaining 3200 or over fps? I have a 26" tube on my custom rem mag, my elk/moose load last fall was 140 gr TSX that was acheiving this..no problems with it for these critters just not what I like for...
Nosler Part 150 or 160, Nolser AB 160 or CT failsafe 140 or 160 if you want to stick with just nosler offerings. If not the 140 or 150 Barnes TSX BT will also do the trick out of the 7mm rem mag.
I have used all but the 150 TSX out of my 7mm rem mags to harvest elk and/or moose. For sheer...
Like already mentioned going lighter won't help the situation in 300 wm. So either adjust your bullet for bone hits (part or bonded, etc) or next time drop that crosshair in the triangle (heart/lung) of the broadside animal and never see this happening again.
The BT is a wonderful deer bullet...
Just got a deal on some 140 AB's and was planning on working up a load for my 7mm rem mag for deer & antelope. Previously in the 140's I have gone with RL22 but this was not a nosler bullet (Barnes TSX). I have had good luck with 150BT's and 150NP's with Imr 4831 and 160AB's with IMR 7828...
180 NP or 200 AB. I saw 300 wm loaded hot with 180AB, leave a mess of a small spike last fall. It looked like a shoulder shot deer with a hallow point or something...blood shot, splinters...it was a real mess. The lungs where in bad shape on the entrance side(due to shoulder hit) and being a...
I own or have owned Leupold, Bushnell, Burris, Zeiss and others. Right now my serious hunting rigs wear Zeiss Conquests, they are the best optic wise that I am willing to shell out for. In 4 years of owning Zeiss and subjecting them to harsh conditions of Canada I haven't had one hick up along...
I have used the 160AB to harvest both elk and moose. In terms of the elk it touched no heavy bone passing through both lungs and exiting the animal on 150 yards shot. This was a raghorn bull that went down inside of 75 yards, the entrance hole was diameter and exit was 1 1/2". On the bull...
