My apologies - yes I have noticed it prior but never got around to asking about it. I've learned I need to be much more precise with my problems on here. (There's a joke somewhere in there...) -B
Thanks for some more thoughts on this. So, the pic is misleading. I even thought about not posting it last night and taking a different photo this morn. The camera on my phone does make the right case look slanted, and slightly on the left case. But they aren't. (I don't want to start...
That was my first thought, but the ring/impression is not close enough to the top of the throat. I always trim, chamfer, and de-burr b/t firings. My guess is that some of the Core-Lokts were crimped and some were not. Again, many thanks to all for weighing in.

Deer season ended yesterday. Tonight I was cleaning 7mmRM brass (R-P, 5+x fired) and about half the rounds had these small grooves/rings around the top of the neck. What is it? My resizer? A chamber (T3x) that has something odd cut in or out? Please advise...

A bit more context: First, it has been freezing down here in TN. Freezing! Yesterday morning it was 32 and I went out to shoot him a doe. The only deer sign I have seen have been a long walk from the truck. I asked him if he would be willing to help me by pulling any deer I shoot up the...
I've never found a Nosler bullet in any of my game, but I had an experience last week worth commenting on. For various reasons I chose to hunt w/ 140g Partitions this year from my 7mm-08. They were leaving my firearm at 2840 ft/sec and were confidence-buildingly accurate. (43g Varget) I...
My experience was updated last night. But backing up a bit first to your question. ELD-X are the most accurate out of the box or in my reloads. I've taken deer w/ all the Hornady offerings and it has always been adequate. I kept switching bullets b/c I never got the performance I wanted...
I went out this evening to move my climber for the weekend (found fresh rubs). It was raining and miserable - and a long way from the truck - but it needed to be done. When I got to my climber I put it together and put it on my back. Crossing the first rise there he was. It was quite thick...
This morning I took my first deer w/ my own reload. 7mm-08. Nosler case, 43g Varget, 140g Partition. Double lunged and nicked the heart at ~115 yards. Gorgeous East TN deer.
I have taken this to the range 2x, but never had in the woods. My son wanted to go back to his laminate stock. Alas, $600 TYD. Details: Privateer, Right Handed, Short Action for Rem 700 BDL, Bbl channel is Remington Factory Sporter, Mossy Rock Carbon Fiber, Textualized forend and palm swell...
I don't recall who turned me on to Havalon 6 or 7 years ago, but it is all I carry now when hunting. Since then I have given them as thank-you gifts to anyone I hunt with who has helped me recover or process an animal. (And I think most of these folks have switched as well.)

Here is a thread from June that describes how I came to my own definition of accuracy. https://forum.nosler.com/threads/an-expectation-of-accuracy-and-where-i-landed.43387/#post-476732
In short, my first shot from a cold bore needs to be within 1" of POA at 200 yards. (Or .5MOA of POA I...

I came across this today and thought someone here might be interested.

Bud - I can't begin to list all the help I have received off this forum after picking up both reloading and a used 7mmRM a few years ago. Here are 2 threads I keep bookmarked. Both have QL data and good insights:

Ernie - I never killed a deer at more than 85 yards until 2020. Prior to 2020 I have always hunted the woods in TN. I have a 7mm-08 that I have now developed a 150g Partition load for (43g of Varget). It hits within a half inch at 100, and the second dot down on my Leupold reticle is spot on...
Yesterday I hiked up Big Frog Mountain here in Southeast TN. I bumped into 3 black bear at different spots along the 11 miles; the second made my HR jump to 176 according to my watch. He was sleeping just off the trail and I got a bit too close so that it scared us both. My dog is now too...
Until I started reloading 2 years ago, I never thought much about accuracy. If I thought about it at all it went like this: 1) get some some different Hornady loads and a box of Cor-Lokt for the season, 2) find what shot under 1", 3) set my rifle up one inch high at 100 yards, 4) repeat next...
