    Bipod

All I can tell you is that once I bought a Harris bipod that had the swivel, I gave my other ones away. The swivel is great if you are lying on a steep hillside trying to get a shot. There are other brands out there, but I think the Harris isthe best for the money. A friend bought a really...

    Uniform Trim??

The issue you are having is exactly why I gave up on my Lyman powered case trimmer. The repeatability of my case lengths was awfull. I hate case trimming and if I have to do it, I want it to be right. They are expensive, I know, but I highly recommend the Sinclair/Wilson Ultimate Trimmer...

Good varmit load for the 25.06

For a load that just hammers coyotes, try the Hornady 75 grain V-Max over a stout load of either IMR 4831 or H 4350. This just drops them on the spot. I would NOT recommend using the 85 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip for coyotes. Sounds strange, I know, but we have had bad results with them...

post your pet loads for the 25-06

Guy, I have not tried the E-Tip in my 25-06. The Barnes performed so well I just did not bother.

post your pet loads for the 25-06

Since I live in the middle of California I have had to switch to "non-lead" bullets. So, I have pretty much settled on the Barnes bullets for use in my 25-06. For deer and antelope (both here and out of state) I have been shooting the 80 grain Barnes Tipped TSX over a max load if IMR 4831 for...

    Reloading for the 375 H&H

A couple of quick comments here. First of all, that is an amazing bear rug that Guy posted a picture of, great bear, WOW. Secondly I think the loads Guy mentioned should be great. I had similar results with the H 4350 and most any 300 grain bullets. The Sierra and Hornady boattails shot...

    7mm-08 Deer-Elk

Since you included the elk in the mix, I too would recommend the 150 grain Partition. I have had real mixed success from rifle to rifle with the Accubonds. If I were going elk hunting I would prefer a larger rifle (I usually use a 300 magnum). However for deer and black bear I would not...

    RL 22 in 300Wby

Well, you sound like you need some specific loads. I will give you my favorites, but as usual with any load you get off the internet, they may not be safe in your gun. Also, note that these loads are made up using Weatherby (Norma) brass. If you use Remington brass you will need to reduce the...

Have I found an error in the new manual?

I have not looked at the data you are talking about, but it seems all new manual have errors in them. In the Nosler #7, one of the pages in the 300WSM section is 308 Winchester data. The new Hornady manual even has a web site where you can look up errors they have found. When Speer came out...

Redding Competition Seater Die....does it need cleaning ?

I cannot imagine why it would need cleaned. Look in the instructions that came with it. Some companies do recommend cleaning their dies before use. When I clean a die I usually use Hornady One Shot Gun Cleaner and Dry Lube. Those Redding Competition Seater Dies are a very nice tool.

    cow elk hunt.

Paul great report, thanks. I love to hunt near Raton, that is great country. They have an amazing amount of game around there. We have mostly hunted antelope there, but my buddies and I do have some great elk and deer from the area as well. We, of course, have much better weather during the...

    .25-06 powders?

Good responses here, but I guess I will add my two cents worth. I have been shooting a 25-06 for along time now, my current one is on its second barrel. I have tried all sorts of powders, bullets, primers, etc. etc. I keep coming back to IMR 4831 behind any bulllet from 75 to 100 grains...

    270 wsm loading

Like the other guys have stated, there is no reason to crimp 270 WSM ammunition. I do not crimp any rifle ammo except for loads for the .416 Rigby. My .375 H&H loads have been to Africa several times now, with no crimp and no problems. As to favorite loads for the 270 WSM I have a couple...

    Chronograph Recommendations

I think most folks on here will agree, there is nothing out there today that is better than an Ohler 35. I have an old Ohler model 33 and it works great but is tedious to set up and take 6 D batteries. (And they go out with NO warning) For the last 10 years or so I have been using a Pact...

    VX-R update

Well, I got to take the new VX-R 3-9 to the range today and I am even more impressed. I took the new scope mounted on my Remington 700Classic chambered in .338 Win Mag and went to the range this morning. I bore sighted the thing and the first shots at 50 yards were about 3 inches low and left...

New VX-R Leupold, I am impressed!

I just finished mounting my first Leupold VX-R scope and I am totally impressed. This is very premature as I have only mounted the scope, have not even taken it to the range yet, but man, that is a good scope. Let me preface this by saying I mount lots of scopes. Ok, maybe not as many as Dr...

    VX6 1-6?

Leupold does state in their latest catalog that none of the V6 scopes can be mounted in low rings due to the size of the rear bell and the rather large focus ring. Whether you could get away with it using another brand of mounts remains to be seen. You need to look at pictures of other mounts...

HS stock for a Rem 700

I own two Remintong model 700 XCR's with the orginal stocks on them and like them fine, but if you are looking for something better, the H-S Precision stock is a great product. I put an HS stock on my Remington model 700 Classic chambered in 300 Weatherby and it has proven to be a great...

    .257 cal 1:12 twist...

Guy, if that old Weatherby has a 1 in 12 twist I doubt that it will shoot anything over 100 grains unless it is a roundnose bullet. I messed with an old German made Weaterby Mark V that a guy had inherited and it had a 1 in 12 twist. It did not even shoot 100 grain bullets real well, and...
