As I understand it, and I may not be.
You don’t need to seat it from the ogive.
The seating die is contacting the bullet just below the point.
The shape of the bullet it relatively uniform, bullet to bullet. It’s the tip that can change on a ballistic tip.
So where the die contacts the bullet...
I forgot to add my model 94.
It’s a 1980 and it shoots 160 grain ftx handloads very nicely.
I haven’t taken a deer with her yet so I would love to do that.
At my age however, my eyes are not what they used to be so shooting the iron sights are a little difficult.
But, I refuse to scope her so…..
I’ve been wearing the Lacrosse Aerohead boot for years. Unfortunately they don’t make them anymore, and I need a new pair for this season, so I purchased a pair of the “Aerohead Sports”. Very similar, so we’ll see.
I can tell you that $150 won’t get you what it used to….
I was also able to...
I make my own.
This one is a 3.25” blade, and a 4” handle.
Ground blade from 52100, with desert ironwood scales, and red, and white G10 liners.
Make the sheaths too!
I’ll carry this one in the field this season.
I hunt whitetails so I don’t need much, and I’ll be able to do it all, field...
This is great advice!
I measure the actual bullets from the lot, and try, and find an average of the measurements, and then use that bullet to start.
I then do a COAL measurement, switch to the comparator and get a CBTO for that bullet, and use that to start with.
I would love to have a ar15 in the 6.5 Grendel!
I would be a little concerned with it passed 250 yds however, especially for deer.
It might be worth looking into an ar10 platform in maybe a .243 or something?
Similar platform just a little bigger cartridge.
I have not done that.
I have my rifles sighted in with one specific load in mind.
My 30-06 shoots 150 Accubonds, but I bought a 30-06 with being able to hunt larger prey tha whitetails in mind if the opportunity presented itself.
My.308 also shoots the 150s, but I’ve been working up a load for...
When I work up a load, I always do so with accuracy in mind.
I’m not too worried how fast usually.
The only time I’m concerned about fps is down range in a hunting bullet, specifically a mono such as the ttsx.
I would like it to open as much as possible, so speed there certainly plays a part...
I have a couple of choices.
My Remington 700 in 30-06
And my Tikka T3x compact, in .308 Win.
With the type of hunting I’ve been doing the last few years the Tikka will be getting most, if not all the time in the field. Walking the areas I’ve been hunting mostly lends itself to a smaller...
I haven’t heard this aspect of the story.
Ive just heard about the hunters dying.
Regardless I don’t think I would take a deer that I felt was infected with the disease, let alone eat it.
Im not too sure I trust the CDC much either….
I think I would start at your COAL 3.217 length and work towards the 3.305 COAL.
you have a known at 3.217 try your increases from there and move out longer towards the .050 jump.
If I’m understanding you correctly
