The 28Nosler begs for the heavies. I shoot the 175gr ABLR at 3150. I think you'll find that the Nosler rifles have a significant leade. I would stay with a mono or bonded bullet for hunting. The speeds that the 28Nosler can generate will blow apart many cup and core bullets. I tested the 195gr...
Guy,
Been running one on my 325wsm since '10. It works real well. It's not just a carry strap it slingsand adjusts well. It even is big enough to sling across my back, Did that for 400yds while sneaking on a zebra, worked well. The rough side holds position really well. I think you'll like it...
My son killed his first elk last night. Made dad proud! We were hunting the Heppner unit in OR. on his cow hunt before football starts next week. We broke up a large herd and then got the cow call out and set up between the two groups. It wasn't long before a cow appeared at 90yds and my son put...
++1 and I bring 5-6 rifles to rotate and a few pistols if it's hot out. Going to the range tomorrow and bringing 6 long guns. Working loads on a few sighting in a couple and shooting a new one. Should have a smile on my face by the end of the day.

Shot cowboy action for four years till my shooting partner passed away. It was always a hoot! A slicked up '73 is fast. A single action with a spring kit and a little trigger work can be very fast and accurate to boot. I always liked the 45colt or the 44-40. My partner liked the speed he could...
My kids drew cow elk tags this year and want to use their deer rifles but I think I should change the loads up some. My daughter has adopted my Kimber 84m in .308 as her own. I have a load shooting 125gr BTs or NABs at 3100fps that works great on deer. Thinking I should move up to 150 or 165gr...
I've had an original in .223 and for high volume trimming it works great but being mostly cartridge specific they can get expensive if you load for many different cartridges. I've trimmed .223 and 17x.223 on this one. It'll work on any derivative on the same case as long as the shoulder angle...
Since I've been to the range. Life has been keeping me busy these past few months. Mom lost her battle with cancer in early March then Dad decided to move to assisted care and we had to downsize his household along with selling his home. I've been coaching softball as well at the High school...
Colorado54,
Welcome to the forum. My only advice would be to add some shooting from standing sticks to your practice regiment. They do that a lot over there. My Hartebeest took 3 rounds of 325WSM in the clockworks before he stopped ticking. Still shake my head at how tough some of those animals...
Maybe not unusual but stalking wild pigs and shooting them close with a bow was always fun. Especially when following them through brush and on trails that you have to crawl on.....keeps the adrenaline levels up pretty high. The biggest rush I've experienced is Elk hunting in the rut with a bow...
Would this help?

Not sure what cartridges the the bolt face will work for though.
I would build a 404Jeffry or a 416Ruger on a large Mauser type action. Maybe a 416x33Nosler?
I think I'd stay away from wildcats though. I'd want the brass stamp to match...
