    lever action addition

I've always had a this funny idea of taking a 1895Win in 30-06 and having it bored out to 35 Whelen. The 95 doesn't carry like a classic lever but it has always interested for some reason. Maybe because it was one Teddy's rifles. Scott

Inline Fabrication's case ejector and Unimount.

Added these items to my Hornady Classic press the other day and finally put them to use this past weekend. I sized and deprimed 700 17Hornet cases in 1hr and 4minutes. The case ejector worked like a charm. I kept my right hand on the lever and fed the cases with my left. The ejector system...

    6.5 creedmoor bullit weight

I like the 129gr ABLR. It's a good mix of high BC and speed. I get 2950fps witha an accurate load. The 140's go about 2800 or a little less. When you get to powder selection try RL17; it's been my Huckleberry. Scott

The 6.5 Creedmoor goes long........very well!

Scotty, At 1K the Creedmoor is still going 1550fps and has almost 700ft-lbs of energy. That's 50% more energy than a 45acp at the muzzle. It's supersonic past 1500yds. IF..... I was ever thinking about taking an animal that far I'd switch to the 28Nosler at double the energy at that range. I've...

    Took the 28Nosler long today.

Took the 28 along with the Creed to a 1K today. I covered the Creed in another post. The 28 shot well today. I had some bipod trouble and without a level I strung some shots horizontally. I got things figured out after about 1/2 dozen shots. The guy I was shooting with has a custom 7RUM shooting...

The 6.5 Creedmoor goes long........very well!

Took the Creed to 1k today. We were shooting from the prone position. My shoot card said 24.9moa and the winds were tough to read. At the shooting line we had 1/8 value L to R variable 3-4mph; at the target we appeared to have R to L full value at 2-3mph. In between it looked like a slight...

    Ruger 77/44

JD, A friend of mine has a fully suppressed version. It sounds like an air rifle and you can hit a golf ball at a 100yds. It's a job specific weapon but it sure is fun! Scott

The first two jugs were blown to pieces and landed 40' away! 8)

    175gr ABLR at 3200 & 1600fps

Ran them into jugs today to verify close in and 1200 yd impacts from my 28 Nosler. They performed well as expected. The high speed impacts were impressive. I'm pretty sure ELDs from Hornaday would've failed. I'll test the 195gr EOL Bergers later. I like what I'm seeing and I think this is one...

129 &142 ABLR slow and fast

I ran the 129gr ABLR through my Creedmoor to verify performance both near and far today. It did well, just as I expected. The 142gr ABLR I only ran slow today. I'll let my 6.5WSM push it for the fast load since it'll be 400fps faster. I think the 129 is perfect out of the Creedmoor but might be...

Earned my Jr. gunsmithing merit badge today.

I have a a semi custom Rem 700 long action that hasn't panned out like I hoped so I was going to sell it; but, it has some components that I really like and would never get my money back from selling it. The rifle has a Kepplinger single set trigger and a 3-position safety. I have a short action...

    QuickLoad questions thread...

I wouldn't worry about 1% but the more powder burned outside the barrel can result in more muzzle flash. I tried one powder/load combination that was kind of like a 155 Howitzer! I was looking at velocity/OBT and not the entire table. Scott

    Looking for a new press

I started with the Hornady Classic press and still use it. I really like the quick bushing sytem because it speads up conversion quite a bit. I've been looking at adding another press. It'll probably be a Hornady AP. If I was looking for a single stage it'd be the Hornady Iron press. Red always...

    3,050 fps in a 6.5 Creedmore

42gr of RL17 and 129grABLRs are running 2950fps out of a 26" tube. My variable are different than yours but this load is hitting about 58kpsi according to QL when I've adjusted for case capacity, oal and burn rate. ihave another load with H4350 at 44.5gr it's a little slower but just as...

The 6.5 Creedmoor goes long........very well!

One of things I'm adjusting to is the upgrade required in optics; both in scopes and spotters. I still need to upgrade the range finder. Who would have ever thought I could out shoot a a Leica CRF900. Looking at the Sig Kilo 2000; wish I had the budget for G7 BR2. Scott
