You guys are a couple of motivated individuals. I better jump on this bandwagon as well. My job has shifted to spending a lot more time in the office over the last few years. That in combination with having three kids under the age of 5 has taken about a 30lb toll. It became very evident last...
Agreed! If I can get them to hover around the .5" mark that will be about 100 fps faster than my H4831 load that shoots well. If they don't, back to H4831sc I go.
I took my 280 AI back out with some hotter charges of RL-26 and the 150 ABLR last weekend. I was able to get them up to 3200 with 63.5 gr, but they didn't shoot well at all. 62.5 gr ended up putting the first two right side by side and threw the third out maybe .75". They were running 3125 from...
I'm loading a 270 WSM for my father in law. Looking for any load info on the 150 ABLR. I found Scottys post with RL-25. I played around with RL-26, apparently it has a bit of a different burn rate as I maxed out at my starting load of 68 gr. I figured that if Scotty was getting the groups and...
I played around with RL-26 in my 280 AI last night with the 150 ABLR. I started at 60.5 Gr and worked up to 62. I'm running WLRM primers, Nosler brass and 3.350".
61 gr gave me a nice .75" triangle group doing about 3040 fps.
both 61.5 and 62 gave me two in the same hole and one about an...
I played with 7828ssc in mine last week with the 168 ABLR. 59 gr shot really well and gave me 2900 fps with single digit ES from a 24" barrel. Shot better than RL-22 or RL 23. I'm using Nosler brass and WLRM primers.
I have a buddy that is running 68 gr of RL26 our of a 24" barreled 7 mag with the 168 ABLR. He is getting decent groups, and running just a hair over 3,000 fps. I do not believe that this load is compressed.
Might be worth a shot.
I had a 6.5/7SAUM built on a Savage 12. It weighs about 11.5 lbs as pictured. I'm running a 26" Benchmark barrel. It shoots really well! I'm sitting at nearly 300 rounds down it, and believe I have a lot of life left. I'm not pushing it to hard, and getting 3093fps with the 140 VLD. and I was...
They hold together fine. My buck this year was 80 yards. Put it right on the shoulder, in all honesty one of the cleanest kills/wounds channels I have ever seen. I will admit I was supremely shocked at how cean it was and that it exited out the offside shoulder.
I think I'm running 62.5 with H4831. I can't remember what it was with 7828SSC. Right around there. Start low and work up to those.
RP Brass
210 Primer
3.335"
I shoot them in mine. They shoot very well. They are more finicky than any other butler I have ever tried in that rifle, but I was able to get them to shoot,
I had ok luck with RL-22, good luck with 7828ssc, and ended up settling with H4831. Getting right around 3050. I was never able to get...
I'm pretty sure that these will result in a super light build in 6.5 SAUM! Should be able to push them in the 3100-3200 range out of my 26" heavy 6.5/7SAUM.
If the BC holds up, this will spank my 280 AI with a 150gr or 168 gr ABLR!
My brother smoked a cow elk with a 168 ABLR out of his 284 Win. Worked well. Not much reaction to the first shot (Double lung shot @ 350 yards) she wheeled around and he put another in her as she was running off. The second was a bit far back. He is pushing the @ 2820 fps. We recovered one of...
I have had great luck with it in my 280 AI, 6.5 SAUM, 243 when I had it, 270 Weatherby, and in my 338 RUM.
My favorite thing about 7828 is that I seem to always be able to find it.
